11 month old isn't interested in TV
DS could care less about the TV, for the most part he doesn't even acknowledge it and if he does, he looks at it for a second and turns away, no cartoons, nothing. Now, I did think it was great, I mean I don't want him hooked on TV but then so many people are like, "Oh isn't it great when you can just throw on Sesame Street and get some housework done, so and so was entertained for hours" my sister said my niece who is almost 7 months watches Nick Jr and every other kid I know likes it.
He does like music a lot though. DH puts on the Eric Clapton Crossroads tour that we DVR'd from PBS a few months ago and DS loves the music. He also stops crying when I play Ray LaMontagne in the car and only him. He's big into blues lol!
Is there something wrong with him developmentally that he won't watch tv?

Re: 11 month old isn't interested in TV
I would say no, not at all. My 10 month old is the same way, and I also have a 2 1/2 yr old who watches tv during the day and he will glance at it quickly while it is on with his big brother watching but never sits there and watches it, he would much rather crawl around and explore and play with toys. He also loves music. I wouldn't worry whatsoever! You have plenty of time before he gets captivated by the tv.

Re: 11 month old isn't interested in TV
My 14 month old has no interest in tv, and I have to say, I prefer it that way. Sure, it was great to plop my daughter in front of the tv so I could get stuff done, but honestly, I see my son as more active and that is why he rather be running around than staring at the tv.

Re: 11 month old isn't interested in TV
My 11 month old is the same way. She likes the first 30 seconds of sesame street, the intro song, and then walks away to play with her toys... I kinda wish she liked it for babysitting purposes but I know that's horrible to say

Re: 11 month old isn't interested in TV
My 13 month old has no interest at all. If music comes on the TV she may glance at it, start dancing, then she moves on.
By this age my older daughter would sit and watch a few minutes of Sesame Street. Though she also isn't a huge TV fan, even now at age 4. She'll want to watch a show, I'll put it on, she'll sit for a few minutes, but then will get up and play but keep an ear tuned into the TV.
I have absolutely no problem with my kids not being terribly into TV.

Re: 11 month old isn't interested in TV
DD is 13 months old and is WAY more obsessed with music that tv. The only time she will really look at the tv is when music in a show or people singing comes on. I think there is nothing wrong with that. In fact, I like that she loves music much more than tv itself

Re: 11 month old isn't interested in TV
Not at all...if anything it is great they are not interested in TV. The AAP recommends no TV till 2(which if a very difficult recommendation), so consider yourself lucky. My DS could of cared less about TV (until at 18mths when he say yo gabba gabba). He was just an independent player and very active. He doesn't care to sit still. Now at 3 he will sit and watch one show a night..

Re: 11 month old isn't interested in TV
DS really didn't get into it to the point he'd sit and watch it so I could get something done until he was 14-15 months old. It's only one show though - nothing else really holds his interest that long.

Re: 11 month old isn't interested in TV
Mine isn't either. I read other posts about toddlers being SO into Yo Gabba Gabba, Fresh Beats, etc and I am like- THANK GOD she isn't into TV in a way because I think I'd go insane having to watch that stuff!
Then on the other hand, I wish she'd be a bit more into it to keep her occupied for more than 5 minutes!
She will watch Elmo on DVD and sometimes an age appropriate Baby Einstein- but that's about it. And only for like 5 minutes at a shot.

Re: 11 month old isn't interested in TV
I think its a matter of finding what he likes. DS only really likes mickey mouse clubhouse. He will stare at the tv and watch an entire episide. Anything elae he will maybe walk past the tv, stare, walk away and play, maybe come look again.
