1. I have a friend who wrote an alternate version of 'American Pie'. It explains the song line for line and actually made me appreciate a song I once disliked.
2. I thought that "Light My Fire' was better by Jose Feliciano(sp?).
'3. Freebird' is a good song, but I agree it is overrated. Then again without it and 'Stairway to Heaven' we would have no titles to shout out.
4. "Hey Ya" I agree. It's a fun song, but that's about it.
5.'Pour Some Sugar on Me' I agree
6. " Wonderwall" "I don't even know this song.
7. "Memory" I could live the rest of my life without someone asking me to sing this song at work. The only thing overrated more then the song is the show that it came from.
8. "Bohemian Rapsody" Sorry, but I LOVE Queen and this song!!!!!
9. "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" I Love this song!!!! One of the most important albulms of my youth.
10. "Totally Wired" Can't be that overrated because I have never heard of it.
11. "Born to Run" I can't believe that is on this list. That was when Springsteen still wrote great songs!!
12. "Chewing Gum" never heard it.
13. "Imagine" whoever voted for this must be on crack!!

Wonderwall is one of my Favs, as is American Pie and I dont think they are over rated...I love Springsteen....Not overrated..

13. “Imagine” – John Lennon
"Imagine" was a top-10 hit in 1971, and received enormous airplay when Lennon died. As a result, it has come to represent Lennon; it's a signature tune and a symbol of both Lennon the artist and Lennon the man. However, if one ruthlessly strips away sentiment and sympathy, "Imagine" is actually one dreary song, not among Lennon's best. "Imagine" is an amelodic dirge really, with lyrics cribbed from the communist manifesto. Its Phil Spector production is murky, it's not hummable, and it's too soupy for rock, but too joyless for pop. It's not even the best on the Imagine album; the very next track on side 1, "Crippled Inside" (not a single) far better captures what Lennon was all about: it's playful, jaunty, ironic, tongue-in-cheek, absurd, and catchy-- a far more fitting Lennon tribute.
This is soooo far off mark that I can't even begin to debate it.

I like American Pie, so I don't agree with that. After all the play on Hey Ya, I still like it.
I don't like Light my Fire. Some of the songs I am not familar with. I like Bohemian Rhapsody.

In an age of overrated songs 'Pour Some Sugar On Me' rose to the occasion. Has anyone listened to the lyrics? "Mirror queen, mannequin, rhythm of love.. Do you take sugar? one lump or two?" It makes absolutely no sense. And the drums might as well be a beat box, or a late 80's Casio keyboard with the 'Rock Drum' button to play along with. The guitar riffs are bland, and for some reason Joe Elliot is trying to passionately scream words like 'saccharine'. It just doesn't work, but for some reason people love this song.
To the moron that wrote the above quote: If so many people supposedly "love this song"... then it can't be overrated!
I get more requests for this song... than any other song on this list.... 10 times over!

You have a strange sense of music. But Dave songs are not very " popular" to be honest so how would that be Over rated? Usually Over rated means played often, having a long lasting effect on generations, lots of air time...
Unless you disagree with a critic rating it, and obviously they know more , a lot more, about music then you do.
But your entitled to your opinion, so I cant say more then that.

Dave has been all over the radio for a good part of the 90s as well as this Decade. So they are definitely "well known and popular".
I just don't see what all the hype and fuss is about. The guy sounds like he is whining when he sings.
I am not a fan of rock music in general... but i can tolerate most of it. Dave just gets to me.
Just my two cents. Thats all.

I agree with about 1/2 of the list. I hate 4 non blondes and Oasis.
I disagree with:
Bohemian Rhapsody is a great song. I also love Pour Some Sugar on Me. U2 and Imagine shouldnt be there.

Dave Matthews are a lot like Depeche Mode. You will either love them or hate them.
Can't stand Dave Matthews. But i am a huge Depeche Mode fan.... the "REAL DM".
