Re: "Open viewing" gifts at bridal shower?
I think that means not to wrap them and there will be no official gift "opening".
given the nature of your items, I'd probably just put them in a bag, if anyone wants to see what I bought they'll have to look in LOL

Re: "Open viewing" gifts at bridal shower?
I have been to a few showers like this. I would stick it in a gift basket and wrap with tulle or cellophane. If you don't care about people seeing the gift or not, then wrap it however you feel comfortable.

I kinda agree, but they did say WRAP accordingly why must they make it confusing
maybe wrap it and leave a peekhole?
I know someone who wantd to write DO NOT WRAP GIFTS on the invites and another family member didnt let her.
Its not a terrible idea, it IS a long 2 hours of clapping and oooh-aaahing

Re: "Open viewing" gifts at bridal shower?
Now I am definitely not fan of the sitting around watching someone open present tradition. But I think this is wierd.
I would put it in a basket and tie it up with cellophane. If its not possible based on what you bought- I would just leave it in a bag.
I think all these traditions are so wierd. Why does everyone have to see/know what someone else got you

Re: "Open viewing" gifts at bridal shower?
I wonder if you have to have clear envelopes so those that gave checks or Gift Certs can show their gifts also!!

Re: "Open viewing" gifts at bridal shower?
I went to one of those last year. I thought it was weird, too. Some people didn't listen & just wrapped things normally.
I bought a waffle iron & it cam in a box with a picture of the waffle iron on it. I wraped it in Plastic & attached a bottle of fancy syrup to the ribbon.
A lot of people did baskets--which actually made it hard to get everythign in the cars. ( BIG shower)
The lingerie she recieved was bnot in clear wrapping.
She did open the wrapped things & opend the cards of everything else, but it went faster.

Re: "Open viewing" gifts at bridal shower?
It's a nice idea. The guest of honor gets more time with guests. I would wrap in anything clear or just tie everything together with a bow.

Re: "Open viewing" gifts at bridal shower?
they sell big cellophane bags at Michaels you could put it in and then tie with some nice curling ribbon.
If you want to be really adventurous, you could take it out of the box, and fold the box to be like a floor, arrange the pieces on top and then again wrap in cellophane with nice ribbons.

Re: "Open viewing" gifts at bridal shower?
They're doing this for my baby shower. It wasn't my idea, but it's growing on me. I don't care either way.
Anyway, I agree, maybe cellophane? I wouldn't spend a lot of $ on the packaging, like I wouldn't go out and buy a basket to put the stuff in, just to make it look presentable "unwrapped", but that's just me!

Re: "Open viewing" gifts at bridal shower?
my patient's daughter just had this at her bridal shower, they wrote a poem about the bride wanting to spend more time with her guests so please wrap everything with clear paper.
I think its an ok idea

I am a big baby, I love to open presents. I would be upset if my family did this for me.

I would put it in a basket as well.
And usually they would not be open then, the bride will just walk around and look at the presents.

Re: "Open viewing" gifts at bridal shower?
I can't stand when I get those invites.....the whole point of a shower is to watch the person open the gifts, not just give them something never to see them open it....

i agree! I wanted one of these showers but my SIL and MIL wouldn't let me. I hate being the center of attention and sitting there for 2 hours opening gifts while everyone stares at me was not my idea of fun. Plus i think it's rude to make your friends & family drive hours to come to it and then you only get 5 minutes with them! JMHO.
Definitely wrap in cellophane (sp??).

Okay but in all honesty... who ever has a blast at a bridal shower?!?!?! They're boring and not fun at all IMO.
And does it really matter if they open it in front of you? They know what it is because they registered for it!!!

Re: "Open viewing" gifts at bridal shower?
I'd wrap them as I normally would.
I understand it makes it easier, but I could never fathom telling a gift-giver how the gift should be wrapped.
