16 week appointment question
DH and I have our 16 week appointment next Thursday and we were wondering about the gender. I know it's confirmed at 20 weeks but can they give a guess at the 16 week appointment?? Can they see?

Re: 16 week appointment question
If they do a sono they may be able to see. I know neither my old office nor my new office did a sono at 16w though.

Re: 16 week appointment question
they can definitely see at 16 weeks but are you sure you're getting a sono? unfortunately I didn't. I didn't from week 13-20

Re: 16 week appointment question
I've read some finding out at 12 so I'm sure it's possible... providing you get a sono. Depends on your office. I only got a quick sono at my visits until the heartbeat was heard on the doppler.

Re: 16 week appointment question
We found out the sex at our 14 week appt. We weren't expecting it, but turns out she was in perfect position. It's not quite as accurate as the sex reveal at your 20 week appt but it's definitely possible if baby is cooperating. Good luck!

I think it all depends on the office, and if baby is cooperating.

Re: 16 week appointment question
it depends on many factors:
1. are you having an u/s at 16 weeks? i did not.
2. will your tech SAY what they think? we asked at 12 weeks and he wouldn't say a WORD until 20 weeks.
3. it's all about the angle of the dangle...so even if they guess - there is no guarantee that they are right.... Girls angle down, boys up...so at 16 weeks they can look VERY similar...

Re: 16 week appointment question
they should be able to venture a good guess on the gender - but are you having an ultrasound? i don't believe it's usually done at that timepoint (i didn't have one either pregnancy at 16w)...

I didn't get a sono at my 16 week. I got a surprise PAP test instead. Lucky me

Re: 16 week appointment question
Yes, I am getting an ultrasound at my 16 week appointment. My OB does ultrasounds every 4 weeks with his patients. My next 20 week one he sends his patients to another doctor for 3D ultrasound and then we go back to him for ultrasounds every 4 weeks.
