18+ months programs - preschool type setting
I am looking for a 1-2 days per week with 3-4 hours in a preschool that accepts 18 months. It does not have to be a "mommy integration" program per se because I want eventually to NOT be with DS during that time.
I am looking in Hicksville, Syosset, Plainview, Bethpage, Levittown, Garden City, etc.... Probably within that circle area but will look at any other great programs.
TIA

Re: 18+ months programs - preschool type setting
Kiddie Academy in Hicksville & Syosset has these types of part time programs.
Other places that I am not sure of but you can look into are:
Miss Debbie's in Plainview - I went here when I first started looking at day cares and LOVED it, but it was out of my price range for full time.
Miss Sue's in Plainview - I have heard good things.
GreenTrees in Syosset

Have you talked to your service coordinator to see if you can place him in an EI program where he will get his services AND be integrated with other children? I know that was an option back when Nicholas was in EI.

I'm not sure if this is the type of setting you would be looking for (because I don't really know how it works there) but I know that Carosel in Hicksville on Old Country Road is supposed to be really great. My niece and nephew went there for years!

I did not know about this option. I will look into it. They will ONLY approve this if he qualifies for several services. They typically have to be fairly significant.... This is a very expensive option for the county, just wanted to give you a heads up!

Re: 18+ months programs - preschool type setting
but, alot of coordinators won't tell you about EI pre school programs because EI is "home" based services. not all of the coordinators pay attention to this option, and there are not alot of classes offered for it.
that being said my son had a significant speech delay, and we got him into an EI preschool class at little village (home of toddler time as well) and it was the absolute best thing we ever did for him.

Thats a great program!!!!
Counties really try to steer kids away from center-based at all costs. Literally!

totally true. we had a rare coordinator that felt hte center based program would do my son more good. but she also got promoted to being a supervisor while we had her. (she kept 2 cases, we were one of them)
and Little village is one of the best programs you can get into. but start asking about it now. there are very few slots and they can fill up fast. get on the waiting list as early as possible.

We don't live in NY but my DD goes to one of these programs as a mentor student. Its amazing! And the kids who get EI services go for free- my DD we have to pay for.
