How did you do it?
Hi Mamas!
I had a conversation with a friend over the weekend. We were trying to figure out how women who have had children loose the baby weight.
Do they have good genes and can eat anything, have a baby, and it just comes off?
Or
Do they work out and diet like crazy after having the baby?
Or
Did they only eat healthy food while preggo?
Or
Did a c-section or v-birth have anything to do with it?
So, to those women who are 8-18 months post pardum, and fitting into pre-preggo clothes, or are hot mamas; I ask... HOW DID YOU DO IT????? How did you loose the weight? What is the secret?
You can answer the poll or elaborate. TIA!

Re: How did you do it?
I have to admit - good genes and A LOT of coffee. I lost all my weight and fit into all my clothes before DDs turned 3 months. BUT I feel quite flabby - I need to get my arms and legs toned and back into shape...I tried the gym route but I don't have much time for it right now.
I have been walking every single day and now chasing after 2 crawling DDs - that is keeping my weight off I think. Maybe try scheduling time in to work out - even if it is only 20 minutes a day. Good luck!!!

Re: How did you do it?
I honestly don't know. I guess a combination of good genes, not being a big eater (I eat everything, and a lot of crap, but I eat small portions) and not being on BCPs.
Somehow I'm at my lowest weight in 10 years (and I'm terrified of getting preggo again - maybe I won't get this lucky twice!)

Re: How did you do it?
I gained 35 lbs when I was pg, lost approx. 25-30 just by BFing. Then when I stopped I gained some back. I'd still like to lose 10-15. I know I need to eat better - no more Pepsi & other junk and exercise. I just have to get motivated, I really want to lose it before TTC baby #2, which I'd like to do starting in January (right after gaining my holiday weight )

I am working out like crazy.
I go to cardiac rehab 3X's a week for 75 minutes each time. Plus, I am on a 1,200 cal diet. I am on 2 beta blockers and other meds, so for me the meds I am on are preventing me from having a huge weight loss. However, I did loose 7 pounds in four weeks despite all of this. I have lost inches though.
I was just asking because I was curious. My friend and I were talking about it. I wish I had good genes, but before I was preggo I lost 30 pounds the old fashioned way...WW and working out.

Re: How did you do it?
Do they have you doing cardio for 75 minutes? I'm guessing they are monitoring your Heart Rate and all.
How much more do you have to lose? 7 pounds in 4 weeks is really terrific - sounds like you are getting to your goal.

Re: How did you do it?
I lost the weight by eating healthy and exercising 4 - 5 days a week (about 30 - 45 minutes of weights and 30 minutes of cardio).

Re: How did you do it?
My son is 15 months now and I'm back at my wedding weight now. During the pregnancy I ate pretty well, but I worked out 3-4 times a week up until the end. I think that helped me a lot throughout my pregnancy, with labor and after. I EBF my son for more than 12 months and by the time he was one I was back at my pre-preg weight. Since I stopped EBF, I actually lost about 7 pounds in the last 3 months. I'm not really on a diet but I eat well. I eat mostly organic food, fruits, veggies, only whole grains. Basically no sugar, deep fried foods or white flour. I try to work out ar least 2 times a week, but it's hard to go after work.

Thanks!
Here's what I do 3X's a week at cardiac rehab: 5 mins warm up 5 mins stretching 40 mins cardio (treadmil, bike, rower, stair master) 20 mins strength training / weights 5 mins stretching
And yes, they monitor my heart rate, blood pressure, exertion, etc while I work out.

I think what helped me is breastfeeding/pumping plus I did not gain that much weight to begin with, only about 27 lbs...

Re: How did you do it?
WW melted away the extra 15 lbs I had. My problems were portion control and it really helped me lose the weight and taught me how to eat correctly. I fit into my pre-preggo clothes about 3-4 months PP. I didn't have to exercise at all either, just changed my diet.

Re: How did you do it?
I need to lose the weight I gained AFTER delivery. I gained 16 lbs during pregnancy and lost 20 within the first two weeks post partum. I was in my old jeans after one week. Then I just got in a slump and didn't make the time to exercise and now my clothes are all tight and I need to lose a lot of weight. I just started my old workout last night and I am achy now but I hope this will do the trick. I want to be back to my wedding weight by DD's first birthday in February.

Re: How did you do it?
I actually like my body better AFTER baby, except for the lil bit of flub in the belly. I lost most of it within a week and have retained about 9 lbs, which I'm happy about.

Re: How did you do it?
OOH - my favorite topic....
As some of you may know, my biggest stresser was the fact I couldn't fit back into my clothes, and it was very upsetting for me...
But, the truth of it is this...
My belly went down as soon as I had Cailen. My friend came to visit me in the hospital, and asked me why I didnt have the pregnant belly that the other moms had. I still was all stretched out and my hips and butt were very wide, so I was like - whatever, I'm still a load.
But the dr. that released me told me I didn't even look like I had a baby.
Everywhere I went, people said, "YOU had that baby 2,3 weeks ago... 2 mts ago, etc..."
It was nice to hear, but I was still 22-25 lbs over my pre-preg weight (I gained 42, lost 20 right away)
I walked everyday. I rarely ate, but my cothes still didn't fit.
The ONLY time I saw a significant enough change in my body where I thought I finally had some semblance of my old self was when I began kickboxing again last month. I dropped 7 pounds immediately, and now have 10 lbs to go (I'm 5 mts PP)
I have no issues with eating junk at all. I'll have it occasionally, but not too often. I'm one of those people that forget to eat lunch, and sometimes will just have eda mame for dinner because I'm so picky. Last night DH made dinner so I ate a lot, but thats rare...I drink coffee, lots of water, and am very active in general...
Sorry for rambling, but I discovered there is no quick and easy way, even though I thought I'd spring back into shape by the time I returned from the hospital. I'm a dolt.
