1st 5k - Run for your Lives

I'm freaking out. I had a baby 8 weeks ago and I let my sister talk me into signing up for the Run for Your Lives 5k next weekend. The one with the zombies.

I'm in the worst shape of my life. I've only been back to the gym 2x since the baby was born.

I know I'm going to have to run/walk and I'll probably walk a majority of it. Do you think I'll be the only one??? I'm afraid of being the last person and feeling embarrassed Chat Icon

OK, for a regular 5k I would say don't worry about your time, don't worry if you need a walk break. Some people walk the whole thing.

BUT for the zombie one, I am a pretty fast runner and I am afraid to sign up for that one. If you are jogging/walking you will have zombies catching you. And even though they are not real zombies, it would still freak me out. Keep that in mind - i wouldn't do it. I wouldhave nightmares for weeks.! Good luck!

The only difference is the zombies so as long as you are not going to be freaked out, and I would be freaked too Julz, then go for it. Who cares?? If they get all your flags, you're a zombie too and if I wasn't scared, that sounds fun!!!

Are you doing it on Saturday in Baltimore? That is the one I'm doing! I'm a pretty slow runner but I've watched videos and there aren't zombies everywhere. So you can slow down when you are clear and speed up to avoid them. Plus I heard that they can't catch you while you wait in line for obstacles. So I don't think it's going to be constant running.

As for coming in last, that is one of my fears too, LOL! But there are multiple waves every half hour so I really don't think we have to worry about that.

You should be fine! I did the one in Boston back in May. There are definitely times when you can walk and then sprint past the zombies and walk again. The obstacles aren't that bad either. It was a lot of fun!
