1st birthday venue? Winter bday= grrrrrr
Hi girls! I am jealous of you ladies who's DC's have summer bdays and you can just do backyard bbq's! After an hour of scouring the boards and past posts- I'm just going to ask what has been asked many times over.
Looking to do DS's 1st bday, which falls in December, TRYING to keep it at 50-60 people, within 30 minutes of Massapequa or Babylon (we live south shore border of Suffolk and Nassau).
I am confused (first child) because I understand it is for adults- but there will be a bunch of kids there. I was looking into places like Nunleys and White Post Farms, which are way cute, but I'm realizing it needs to be more 'adult'?
We would do our house in a HEARTBEAT but there is no way in the world that is a logistical possibility. Restaurants and nice halls are too expensive.
I'm thinking we'll just have to end up going with a VFW/KOC type place? Is there any other option?
ANY WORDS OF WISDOM ARE DEARLY APPRECIATED!!!

We had our DD's first birthday at the KOC in Seaford. They have an on-site caterer which worked out great for us.

Look into the Hibernian Hall in Babylon- I think they are very reasonable.
I've also been to a few parties at the American Legion Hall on Union Blvd in West Islip (right across from the fire house).

1st birthday venue? Winter bday= grrrrrr
Hi there! So my DD is turning 1 in December as well and I had the SAME issues.. My original intention was to have it at home since it is mostly for adults at that age but then I realized that between our friends and family there would be at least a dozen kids aged 1-7 and it would be quite a lot to have that many kids plus 30+ adults at our home without the use of outside. I also realized that the cost of decorating entertaining and providing food for that many people would add up. A restaurant etc seemed to be too pricey as well as excessive for us bc we did a large baptism only a few m onths ago. So, ultimatly we decided to have a party at Nunleys in the morning for the adults (family and friends with kids as well as some of our friends without kids) and kids -- Nunleys seemed like a great choice bc it accomodates lots of adults and kids and is reasnoably priced. We arethen going to have a small after party for the older relatives and our parents and siblings at our house for an informal lunch (about 20 people including the kids) . This made sense for us and although Nunleys is geared for the kids, I think adults can enjoy the carousel too!! HTH

Thank you ladies for all your suggestions. I am deep in calling mode and have tried some of the places you mentioned, as well as Amity Club, Levittown VFW, Bellmore Firehouse, etc. Lots of voicemails left- several 'already booked'- and handful of open dates and the potential quotes. Working on it! Thanks for your input.
And your idea of Nunleys AND another party is so cute! I love it. I wish I could do that (wouldn't work for us due to the logistics of out of towners/ kids ratio) but I DEFINITELY want to try and do Nunleys next year- it is ADORABLE. We went as kids when it was in another location. Enjoy!

Is the amity club you mentioned the amity harbor beach club? It's an 842 number? I've been dealing with Andy for DD's christening and he's been pretty good. If you didn't call there, you should give it a try. FM me if you need the number.
