1st mother's day down the tubes
So far i've gotten screwed left and right by DH's dam job. My birthday was April 29th and DH requested off, he didn't get the day off but was able to leave early and came home to make me dinner which I appreciated but then while watching the movie that he promised me he got phone call after phone call from them so it was ruined anyways.
Now it's Mother's Day on Sunday and again he requested off so that we could do something special since it is my first!!! and again he has to work. 10-8 so I don't get him at all because he has to leave by 9 and won't be home until probably 9 pm. My mom is working as well so it looks like my first mother's day is going to suck because it will be just me and baby Alyssa. At least I get to spend it with my daughter who is the whole reason that I get to celebrate in the first place but I hate that I can't do anything special at all for my 1st one. DH tried to switch but there is no one to switch with so i'm stuck. I wouldn't have minded if he at least opened or closed so we could do a breakfast or a dinner but no it's a midshift and no one will switch. Sorry girls just really upset right now.

I am so very sorry!!! I am sure even at 9:00 pm, your DH will make it as special as he can for you and I am sure he just feels awful about it!! His job s***s for not accomodating him on that day. Liek you said, you will have your beautiful  with you - so make sure mammy and daughter do something fun together!!! A nice stroller ride, pack a lunch and go outside to eat it while Alyssa is in her carriage. Try to get a manicure maybe if the baby is alseep! ENJOY IT MOMMY!!!!!

too bad I don't live near you...I am not doing anything either.
It's my 1st too...My DH is oncall and even if he does not get called in we can't do anything cause he has to prep for a GI exam on monday.
I just PRAY DD is an angel on Sunday or I will be super sad!

I spent my first Mother's Day fighting with my DH (who was being a di ck), fighting with my MIL who was sticking up for him, and then ending it with a plane ride home with a screaming baby. I don't even have a picture with my DD or one happy memory from that day.
That day is overrated IMO! My girlfriends all warned me

Ooohh...try and enjoy it anyway with Alyssa. A nice walk or even go to a park somewhere and just relax.

Well it's all about you being a mom really...just enjoy the day with Alyssa. Are any of your friends in the same situation - maybe you could get together with them and celebrate with your children.

I am so sorry that your 1st Mother's day is going to be ruined.
I spend every birthday alone and usually my anniversary too, what I have come to learn is that just because Hallmark says May 11th is Mother's doesn't mean you have to do that. I will be in the hospital for Mother's day so we will be celebrating Mother's day June 8th when I am a little more up for it and I am starting to love it because no one else will be 'celebrating' that day

yes DH does work in retail and it sucks. And we are the first out of all of our friends to have any babies so I'm completely by myself. If the day is nice I think we might make a trip to baby'srus or something just to get us out of the house. And I too pray that Alyssa is an angel that day because if I have a rough day that day I think I will cry. One of DH's gifts was that he was going to do the nightime feedings Saturday into Sunday... oh well at least I have my daughter to spend the day with.
