1st pregnancy- Need OBGYN referrall
I am about 2 wks prego and estatic! Im unfortunatly not pleased with my OBGYN, they neglected to inform me that my Female Dr left the practice!
I live in the west islip area and could use a great referral for a female OBGYN that is very soft, efficient and attentative to your needs.
Any advice on books or anything would be greatly appreciated. As excited i am, I am also very nervous

Re: 1st pregnancy- Need OBGYN referrall
Congratulations!!
I live in Copiague but travel to Bethpage for my OB. I love him. He is kind, patient, well educated. And his office staff is really on their game. He is affiliated with Winthrop, so I am not sure if you would consider that too far.
If you want his info let me know.
As far as books are concerned. I'm not a big reader when it comes to life situations. When I was pregnant with DS and bored I'd occasionally read "Your Pregnancy Week by Week".
Also, pick Baby Bargains. It will be a lifesaver when it is time register!
Congrats again and welcome to the boards.

I love my ObGyn office, they are also in Bethpage. Bethpage ObGyn is the practice. There is a female and a male doctor. Dr. Storch is the female, Dr. Thanus is the male. They are the best! Their bedside manner is awesome.

My practice is mostly men, but I know there is a female OBGYN in Oakdale on Montauk Highway, I know ppl that use her. I think her name is Dr. Patricia OSullivan...

Re: 1st pregnancy- Need OBGYN referrall
I think your OBGYN is the one I just started going to, because the doctor I see there mentioned they had a woman who recently left the practice.
The only thing I would suggest to you is that you DO NOT go to Sarah Schwartz in West Islip. The office and the doctor are a nightmare. I have been seeing her for over 8 years and I switched due to her negligence when I got my appendix out at 9w. Her office staff is incompetent at best and I have only had bad experiences with her when I got pregnant. I know not everyone has this problem with her, but if I did, that should be reason enough.
I really do like the new group I am in, but you mentioned you wanted a woman. My girlfriend goes to Dr. Geweritz (sp) at A Woman's Way in Islip or East Islip.
Good Luck and congrats!

Re: 1st pregnancy- Need OBGYN referrall
THank you all for your referrals!
Yes, the practice in west islip is the one i currently go to @ the end of Udall and montauk Hwy- across from LaGrange. I never got to see the femail Dr cause she was on Maternity so i was always seeing her PA, who is very cold in my opinion. I've also seen Dr Ketcham who is very nice but I prefer a female. GOod Luck to you. THanks for the heads up on Dr. Scwartz, I had her as someone to call since she was in the area. I think im going to try South Bay OBGYN- I'll let you know.
Oh the happiness of pregnancy :)

Re: 1st pregnancy- Need OBGYN referrall
I go to Southbay. They delivered my first, and now I am back for my second pregnancy. I'll be honest, I have almost left the practice numerous times. The reception area isn't the best and the wait times for appointments that I have particularly in the evening can be very long. But I keep deciding to stay because in the end, they can do all ultrasounds on site(alot of other practices send you out for 12 and 20 week scan), they are good about taking you in in an emergency or for a concern, and the doctors are very good. So to me, that outweighed the receptionists and waiting time. Hope that helps!

I agree. I left Dr. Schwartz's office after they made me feel like an idiot when I had my chemical pregnancy. I never even spoke to or saw the Dr.
I see Dr. Kristi Egner in Islip and I am extremely happy with her. She is matter of fact and answers every question you have for her.
