1st time cooking meat...
I've been a vegetarian for 19 years, but i'm married to a meat eater. I would like to try cooking some kind of meat for him instead of just making veggie meals and having him make his own meat. What can I make that is really easy? How will I know that the meat is fully cooked? I became a veggie when I was 17 so I never learned how to cook meat and now I feel clueless....

Re: 1st time cooking meat...
The cooking time for meat is going to vary according to how thick the cut of meat is and how your DH likes it (rare, med. rare, medium, etc.).
A good example is a rib eye steak (yummy). For about 1" thickness, after brushing with olive oil and clarified butter, I generously salt and pepper. Then I grill for approximately five minutes on each side (for medium rare).
You can buy a meat thermometer but once you stick a steak with a metal object, all its yummy juices come out (plus I can never find one that is really accurate).
