1st time trying cereal

What was your experience? My ped told me to start her on cereal since she is over 15pds and almost 4 months. Today was our 1st time trying. She didn't finish the recommended amount, but did get some down. I don't think she hated it, but I think it will take sometime for her to get the hang of it. I gave it to her 1st then gave her the rest of the bottle.

How many times did it take before they get more into it?

Re: 1st time trying cereal

It took DS about a day or two to get use to the spoon and the taste. How much did you give her?

Re: 1st time trying cereal

I would say it takes about a week. When DS started cereal he had a gassy reaction to it. So I had to stop and waited another week to start again and I started with a very low amount, Like a teaspoon.

Re: 1st time trying cereal

I started with 2 tablespoons which seemed like a lot. I mixed it with an ounce of formula. I think she was confused with the spoon as well. I'm giving it to her with her 2nd bottle in morning and the 2nd to last bottle before bed.

Any another suggestions to make it a little easier for her? As soon as she started getting fussy I stopped. I didn't want to push it on her.

DD loved it right away. I would say just to keep trying, make it thin to start and don't push it. She will get the hang of it.

Re: 1st time trying cereal

I gave DS 1 tablespoon to start with in the morning only and after a week I went to 2 tablespoons. I have tried giving him more but he does not take more than 3 tablespoons. I only give it to him in the morning.
