1st Ultrasound This Morning!
We just got back from our first ultrasound! The baby is teeny but measuring perfect! We saw the heartbeat (didn't hear it) but the tech said that the heartbeat was 170bpm! The only disappointing part was that the tech said that they don't print out pictures until 12+ weeks, DH and I were really bummed but 12 weeks will be here in a little more than 3 weeks so we will have to wait until then! The tech sort of got ****** at me for not drinking my 40 oz of water an hour before hand but after 2 glasses I thought I was going to lose my breakfast! Hopefully next time it'll be easier!

Sounds like a great morning!! It's wonderful seeing them for the first time....even if they're just a little spot. 12 weeks will be here soon enough.

First...Congrats on the good news and the great sono!
But...what was your tech's problem???
I never heard of them not giving you a picture. That is mean! Also, I never have to drink water before any of my sonos for being pregnant.

Thank you Alissa! DH's face just lit up when the tech said "and that flicker is the heartbeat!" I'm sure we'll all remember these moments forever!

I don't know what her problem was, maybe she was mad at me for not drinking enough water! Dh said, "Man she's PO'ed at you for not drinking enough water!!" but I just couldn't choke down another single drop after two glasses. I believe she said something about the bladder pushing the baby up so that she could get better pictures. She said if I had drank enough water I could have had an external but since I didn't then I had to have an internal. IMO I didn't really care if she went down my throat, I just wanted to see the baby!!!

I never heard about drinking water before the sono. Congrats on seeing your baby, and seeing the heartbeat is exciting. As for not giving you a pic that is messed up. Did she put the pic in your file- or didnt print it out at all?

No she didn't print anything out, I'm assuming that she saved them on the computer...at least I hope she did!

What is your techs problem, you dont have to drink for the early sonos, where they internal? The only way i could see that they want you to drink if they are doing external sonos, at 12 weeks you have to do that.

I hac interal sono's till like 13-weeks or so - I just dont get why she didnt give you a pic of the sono...
Well whatever right - You go back again and you will get a pic next time...
Glad the appt went well and congrats !!!!
