2 christening gift questions
My nephew is being christened soon. DH is the godfather. We're very close with my BIL & SIL. How much should we give? I think we'll contribute to his 529 instead of a savings bond. Should we do a gift as well, and if so, what?
Then, we're going to a friend's baby's christening this weekend. How much do we give? Will likely do a savings bond for that.
Thank you, I don't have much experience with christenings.

Re: 2 christening gift questions
In my family the godparents usually chip in for a cross. But, that is not the norm in DH's family - so my cousin (godmother) bought Jack the cross and the outfit.
I think that whatever amount you are comfortable giving is fine. I believe my cousin gave us 150 on top of what she bought for Jack.
As for the friend - I usually give no less than 100! HTH!

Re: 2 christening gift questions
DH is the Godfather to our nephew and we gave $300 plus a cross. In our families it is customary for the Godmother to get the outfit and the Godfather to get the cross.
For a friend I would give $100. For family outside of it being a sibling I think $150.
I also give either cash or a check. I am not a fan of saving bonds personally.

Re: 2 christening gift questions
I would give the money as well as something for the baby to signify the importance of the day - a cross, a nice picture frame, etc.
