2 month old shots and fever???

Yesterday afternoon my twins had their first round of shots and now my DD is running a temp of 100.3, so I gave her Little Fevers and it seemed to work, but how long after the shots should they run a fever? When should I be concerned?

Also, she doesn't want to eat anymore then 2 oz. per feeding, which is every 3-4 hrs.

TIA!!!

Re: 2 month old shots and fever???

DS's ped split his shots up a little so idk exactly which ones your LO's had, but at 2 months he got pediarix (dtap, hep b and polio) as well as the rotovirus (the liquid one they drink) He had a fever for and was cranky for a day or so. No irritation st the injection site. If the fever lasts for more then a day / day and a half I personally would call the Dr to tell them.

Did your dd's intake go down since getting the shots? If so, I would give her a day or so and see if it goes back up. Especially if she drank the rotovirus vaccine, it might have bothered her stomach.

I was told "a day or two" so I would give it 48 hours. Unless your LO spikes a temp (I think it's 102 or higher?) and/or refuses 2 feedings in a row. In that case, call ASAP. No personal experience though, DS was fine after his 2 mo shots.

Re: 2 month old shots and fever???

Our Ped stated that the fever should break within 24-hours after the shots were given.

They also stated that if the fever went above 101 or 102 to call them immediately. It did once, but an hour later is down to 100.

They told us to give DD 0.4ML of tylenol and that seemed to help. Her fever broke by the 24-hour mark.

Good luck!

Thank you ladies, her fever broke today, but she still isn't eating right, but I'm going to give it another day.

Re: 2 month old shots and fever???

My DD got her only fever at her 4 mth old shots. It lasted less than 24 hrs and I only gave tylenol one time. I would call the ped just to briefly discuss.
