2 NYPD cops shot in Queens

Dh called me before I saw the news, Thank God! Thank God also that he is ok that he wasn't in the subway today (he was at that station yesterday!). Lord, if this is the gift I got this month and I'm not pregnant, i won't be upset, I promise.

I know it's always a possibility with his job, but I am a total mess right now. (i'm sure the fertility drugs are not helping as well). I usually put the possibility of something happening to him in a little box in the back of my brain and forget it's there, I mean, he's on days, he's in Queens North, the neighborhood isn't that bad, he doesn't work on Fridays and Saturdays, and he's in a special detail. The reality of his job just smacked me in the face, no one is really safe.

I know what you mean, DH is FDNY EMS, but two weeks ago they responded to a call and he got a knife held to his neck as they were breaking up a fight

I feel your pain...I don't think about until I need to. Someone was shot in his precint last night (Ridgewood). I didn't hear about this one though. What happened?! At least he is safe and called you to confirm. My DH would leave me hanging b/c he get so caught up in the hoopla that he doesn't take the second to call or even text!

I'm so glad your DH wasn't near there.

I live in Astoria but just looked it up cause I didn't see/hear anything about till I read this post, it was actually in Queensbridge, technically not Astoria I don't think. Queensbridge is not the safest area at all. That station is right at the foot of the 59th St. Bridge. It's kinda sketchy there. I can't believe they grabbed the cop's gun and used it. That's really scary.

thanks for the update on where it was, I edited my post. I put the news on when I got home, I always do..DH knows this which is why he called me. Thankfully he has the presence of mind.

Just saw this on the news - what makes me upset is that the shooter was deported years ago and returned to this country illegally.

DH was on his way home when this happened---but my brother was working in the area and my heart stopped for a second when i heard the news. luckily he called me and told me to turn on the news and that he wasn't involve in it.

i am sending big to the families of those officers..i'm glad they are in stable condition.

This is 4 blocks away from me.

Helicopters were practically landing on my block.

The police presence was unbelivable.

I am so sad and scared. My dad is retired nypd detective, my uncle a sergeant and now my little brother will be graduating the academy in December. My hearts go out to the victims and their families. I am praying that they recover quickly!!!
