2 reasons why living on a corner in the Town of Smithtown is a PITA
#1. You cannot put a 6 foot fence within 75 feet of the corner AND within the "required front yard" which I found out today is 25 feet.
So, if you have a 100 x 100 plot like I do and want a privacy fence to encompass your entire backyard and sideyard, it ain't happenin.
#2. Since you're on a corner and no one likes looking out their window at their own cars, everyone will choose to park next to your house where your 4 foot non-privacy fence is going. So you now have the added bonus of seeing their cars all the time, and they can see your entire backyard.
I'm going to try to look on the bright side of this... Less money to fence, I can put up privacy plants... But right now, I'm a little bummed.

I have a corner lot too.
I could not put my shed on my side yard on the corner side even if "INSIDE" my fence since the roof would be too visible.

that is what nice big beautiful plants are for. Now you can pick something beautiful to plant there.

We may have a problem with our shed too, Sophie. It's only 2 feet from the fence.
Jen, that's exactly what I'm doing. Unfortunately, that side of the house is also right under power lines. So not only does it have to screen and grow to 6 feet, it can't grow higher than say 15 feet.
That narrows the playing field just a bit. I'm looking at dwarf pines, lilac, forsythia, hawthorne and dwarf pampas grass.

darn power lines. Can't wait to see what you pick. Sounds like you have been doing your homework.
