2 weeks post partum - can I go for walks?
I am dying to get out this weekend, and would love to start moving - can I go for a walk witht he stroller? Not a hardcore power walk, but just enough to get the blood flowing a bit...
Do you think its ok too if I start to just do some bicep curls with light weights? Nothing hardcore, but my arms have taken a hit this pregnancy since I stopped going to kickboxing classes, and would love to just get a little definition back. I will wait for my 6 wk postpartum appt to really hit it hard, but would like to get a little happening again, and get back into my routine - do you think its ok if I just do some 5 lb weights?

Re: 2 weeks post partum - can I go for walks?
I think you definitely should go for walks this weekend--it is suppose to be really nice outside. Just make sure you don't go to any crowded places like stores etc.
As far as light weights, it depends... If you are breastfeeding, you might be careful with those because your body develops some kind of chemicals during a workout that makes BM taste differently and the baby can turn away from it. I am not sure how hard you need to work out for it to happen though.
As far as definition in your arms--give it a few months. By the time my son was one, I got a better definition from lifting him then I ever did from my kickboxing.

If you feel up to it physically I say go for it!!
Fresh air is good for the baby and you!
I took DD out to target and for walks to get out of the house at 1.5 weeks old, malls by 3 weeks.
Take it easy though and listen to your body
i would stay away from the heavy weights though until after your 6 week pp appt, you don't want to something too soon and set your healing back.

Definitely go for a walk. The fresh air will do both of you a world of good. I'd hold off on the weights though. You'll have plenty of time to get back into shape once the DR gives you the ok.

Depending on how you feel, absolutely. I was back at the gym doing my regular classes 4 weeks after.

We went for a walk to Friendly's today. It was nice to get out and eventhough Emma slept the entire time in her stroller, I know she loved it

Re: 2 weeks post partum - can I go for walks?
I'm going to be the meanie and go against everyone else...while everyone is different, I would definitely take it easy if you're going for a walk. I would not push the stroller, have DH push. And definitely do not lift weights yet. You waited nine months, a couple of more weeks won't kill you. I only say this because I felt great at 2 weeks pp, so I did tons of stuff like taking walks and little things around the house and I ended up opening my incision. Whatever you decide, just don't do too much!

I agree. You had major surgery and your body needs time to heal. Getting out is fine but let DH do the hard work.

Re: 2 weeks post partum - can I go for walks?
If you had a C-sec i'd do only the lightest stuff since with weights you tense your abs. Even light ones. Otherwise do what you're confortable with. Walking is so good for you - go for it!
I went for a short run 9 days PP Probably not advisable but I felt so good after I had a great week after that so the emotional benefit was worth the risk for me...

Re: 2 weeks post partum - can I go for walks?
Hey!!! walk def and you can push the stroller as far as weights NO WAY, you have to give your body a chance to heal, wait till your pp appt. but walking- yes, and its beautiful too!!have fun. 1 week pp I was out walking and pushing stroller wanted to do more, situps etc. Dr. said no body needs to heal and properly.
