2 year old and hitting...

Themselves!!!! MY DS is 2 and when I tell him not to do something he his himself in the face or hits me or the couch ect.. not everytime but it bothers me..... Is it for attention??do you ignore it or step in and keep saying no and put hands down??TIA

I know they are the terrible two's for a reason but just wanted to know your techniques punishing methodsThanks

DD does this sometimes when she is having a bad fit.

I ignore it. The more attention I bring to it, the more she will do it.

Peyton just turned 2 and when she is mad she will hit herself in the head with both hands over and over She has been doing this for a while now and it seems to be getting better. However, she has just started hitting her sister, DH and I when she is angry So I guess we are moving on to another phase. DD#1 never really did this, so it is new to me.
