2 year old's temperature..how

do you take it?

There's no way she's sitting still to take it rectally & I tried under the arm w/ not much luck.

How are you taking your 2 year old's temperature? Thx

We've always used the ear thermometer. I know people will say it's not accurate, but as long as you just care about ranges (low, normal, high, very high), it's very good. It's the only thermometer we use, even for DW and me. 6 years, and never had a problem. The great thing about them, is that you can take their temp while they are sleeping, and they don't wake up.

We use an ear thermometer. It has worked well for us.

We use ear thermometer too...i actually made it fun for him and it worked...we say let's do "beep beep"..and he does it in my ear..then i do it in his...we do this even when he isnt sick..just so he lets me do it when necessary!

my DS is 16 mos - about 4 mos ago babysitter got the forehead scan at costco (ergen brand or something like that) and i think it works well. IF DS is laying on head, you can run it from ear to back of neck. DS had a fever of 101.5 once so I took it rectally and it was the same.
I'm not sure if it was my ear therm or in general or DS was too young but even when we tried it on DH/myself it didn't work for us.
The peds office uses the same brand of forehead scan. Mine was about $30 at costco. BRU had them too - I think it was a little more $$
