*2011 Races*

Lets post our races here all on one thread. Maybe we can meet up with eachother or get ideas for things we want to sign up for.

So far I am signed up for the Winter Run Series and plan on running all 4 of them unless really bad weather.

I also signed up for the LI Half Marathon May 1.

For me:

Hoping to do all 4, or at least 2:
1/9 - Heckscher
1/16 - Caumsett
1/23 - Robert Moses
1/30 - Jones Beach

Plus:

4/11 Jigsaw 4-miler
5/2 LI Half ???????
5/8 Elizabeth McNamee 5k (Mother's Day tradition for me!)

That's all I have for sure, but will try to do others as they come up. Probably not doing Diva, but will do the Entenmann's, which is the day before.

I can't do the relay because I have boot camp (I signed up for an 8 week boot camp that runs Jan-March...its on Sat mornings).


So far I've been planning my half marathons. I'm doing the L.I Half, Yonkers Half (Sept 19) and Diva Half (Oct 2).

Depending how training goes I might do the Camusett 25K in March but right now I'm very up in the air.

As for smaller races, I haven't decided yet. I'd like to find some nice 5ks and 10ks and set some new PRs. If any of you ladies know of any in the spring time- let me know!

I may also do the kings park 15k on march 19. It is very very hilly but I may use it as "training" for the half marathon.

The 5k I do on Mother's Day is great! It's in my town (West Islip) and is super-flat. In May and June, there are tons of 5ks, pretty much every week.

Not many 10ks around, but if I'm not mistaken, there is one in Plainview (Aspire 10k) I think in April maybe??

I was actually thinking about that!! I remember from last year there were so many 5ks in the Spring. I think I'm going to do the Aspire 10k. 10k is my favorite distance.

Do you know of any good races on Father's Day? I'd love to do one with my dad (although he'd end up finishing 10 hours before me )

Thanks- I think I've heard of that one before. Knowing my dad he'll have something planned already! Deer Park isn't too far from me anyway (I'm in East Meadow). I've definatly traveled further for races!

I dont usually run races in LI, but I would be open to it. Anyone else a member of NYRR? I primarily run those races.

2/6: NYRR 4 mile Al Gordon Classic (CP)

3/6: NYRR Shamrocks 5k (CP)

3/27: NYRR 15k Colon Cancer Challenge (CP)

4/2 MORE Mag Womans half marathon (CP)

So far I'm signed up for 13.1 in NY...April 2nd!!

4 mile snowflake run in Long Beach (2/5)
Sean Ryan 5k in June
5 mile Labor Day Run
Diva Half Marathon

Ooh, I would love to do the relay. Sounds like so much fun.

I'm doing the LI Marathon in May but that is the only one I'm signed up for so far. Better get my butt in gear...

Wow.. So many of you do blazing trails! I love that race!

So far I am signed up for the li half.... I hope to do diva half...

Can't do any winter series those year...

I need to see the calendar and see what I'm able to do. I like to do the Alec run... Cai does the fun run....

Yes - nice seeing you again!

I am sure you did awesome again. You are speedy gonzales! I saw you from afar leaving the building just as I was going in to get some snacks after the race.

The conditions were great for a race today. At least 1/4 wasn't bad.

Thanks Michele! It was my fastest out of the winter series but not even close to post-baby PR. I felt great running but had a lot on my mind - the whole time I was thinking and worrying about the home inspection.

So what 5ks are you thinking of for february?
