Re: 2013 Yearly Goal! Post books you read here.

In 2013 I plan to finish the marathon book "John Adams" that I am 24% through on my Kindle. Very enlightening but a huge undertaking!

I also plan to read a bunch of classics that this English major somehow managed not to read, maybe Pride & Prejudice, Wuthering Heights, etc.

Re: 2013 Yearly Goal! Post books you read here.

I'll go with 30 again this year.

January
1. Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver: Loved it. I thought this one was better than the 1st in the series. Can't wait for book 3 to come out in March
2. The Thorn Birds by Colleen McCullough: I thought I would love this...but I was way wrong. I didn't find a single character appealing. Wouldn't recommend.
3. City of Bones (Mortal Instruments #1): I enjoyed this. The ending had me go
Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
4. City of Ashes (Mortal Instruments #2): Really liked this one, too.
5. City of Glass (Mortal Instruments #3): This was the best one in the series so far. Loved hearing about Alicante.

February
6. City of Fallen Angels (Mortal Instruments #4): This was a let down compared to the previous book, but I was still entertained.

Re: 2013 Yearly Goal! Post books you read here.

I am going to aim for 30 .
1. Pillars of the earth *** I like the author so I read the book, it was intersting but too long to ever pick up again.

2.World without end*** Same as above same author, this is about the same cathedral in england a few hundren hears later.

3.the 19th wife **** I found this really intersting , and realized I knew very little about mormons.

4. the bronze horseman*****This has become one of the best books i have ever read. An amazingly well writen love story.

5. Tatiana and Alexander***** 2nd book just as good as the first.

6. The summer Garden **** 3rd book was a good ending, not as much of a cliff hanger as the 2 pervious books though but a happy ending.

7. The madonna's of Lenningrade** I was looking for something else about russia to read after the bronze horseman series but this was really short and lacking what i was looking for.

8. The story Teller**** Wonderfully writen very intersting book by Jodi Picoult.

9. reflected to you*** Pretty good second book to the crossfire series, alothugh short.

10. The age of Miracles ** Talk about not haveing a happy ending. I dont understand why this book has been so highly rated.

11.The great Gatsby*** some how i got through all of HS and college with out reading this. It was intersting and a quick read. I think i may have like the movie more than the book though.

12.A feast of crows*** I cheated and listened to this one. i have read the other 3 but this one was a much harder read becuase it was about a lot of characters that werent that important in the first 3 GOT books.

13.The Pilots wife*** I read this for a book club i probably wouldnt have finished it if i didnt have to , i thought it was just ok. the end was an intersting twist.

14. Fin and Lady*** Quick read coming of age novel about the 60's

15. Hopless ****Great book, by colleen Hoover i probably wont read the second one if it is just another retelling.

16 Impossible*** YA novel about a family curse , some what SiFi

17. Tea Rose**** Was a good start to a great series, about a family this was mostly about the older sister.
18. Winter Rose***** 2nd in series about older brother.
19. wild Rose***** 3rd in sereis about younger brother.

20. orphan Train****intersting piece of american history.

21. This girl **i felt like i was just reading Slammed all over again, i found this a complete waste of money, just a retelling of the same stories by Will.

23. Me Before you***** LOVED , could not put this down. I love books that make me cry.

24. This is where i leave you.- **** A really funny read but more of a coming of age book then having a real plot , but it was still enjoyable.

25. Ruining me ** a young adult book that i had read was amazing and was terrible.

26. extreamly lound and incredibly close *** not at all what i expected. kinda disapointing.

27.The secret life of CeeCee Wilks ***** Loved , couldnt put down.

28. The light between oceans

Re: 2013 Yearly Goal! Post books you read here.

Don't forget to put your opinions!

I'm going to aim for 20 this year.

1. Shadow's Claim - Kresley Cole. Not my fav of the IAD, but enjoyed.
2. Halfway to the Grave - Jeanine Frost. Enjoyed.
3. One Foot in the Grave - Jeanine Frost. Enjoyed.
4. 50 Shades of Grey - EL JAmes. Did not like. It's more like 50 Shades of Sleeping With the Enemy.
5. 50 Shades Darker - Read out of morbid curiosity 'cause I thought she might have redeemed herself at the end of book one, but no, more of the same crap.
6. At Grave's End - Jeanine Frost. Enjoyed, but less than the first two.
7. Beautiful Creatures - Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. It was okay.
8. Beautiful Darkness - Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. I didn't like it. Won't be reading on.
9. Beautiful Chaos - Stunk. Only read because I was actually looking for something thatw ould take a long time to read. And it did.
10. Lover At Last - JR Ward. Better than Tohr's book, but 14 points of view is too many, Ward!
11. The Cavendish Home for Boys and Girls - Claire Legrand. Cute MG horror for kids, but didn't hold me as an adult.
12. Matilda - Raold Dahl. It was okay. Part of my ongoing MG research.
13. The Bad Beginning - Lemony Snicket. Did not like.
14. Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Greg Heffley's Journal - Jeff Kinney. Read with my 6 year-old. Very cute.
15. Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Roderick Rules - Jeff Kinney. Not as good as the first, but still cute.
16 World War Z - Max Brooks. Enjoyed.
17. Macrieve - Kresley Cole. Enjoyed. Love those Scottish werewolves.
18. Warm Bodies - Isaac Marion. Mostly enjoyed. Didn't like the ending at all.
19. Inferno - Dan Brown. Not his best, but not his worst. Slow. Some interesting bits.
20. How to Write Amazing Kidlit - Mary Kole. More about writing in general and not the super in-depth kids writing I was hoping for.
21. Affliction - Laurel Hamilton. I just don't get it. I keep reading hoping to see improvement, but that never happens. Needs an editor and a big, big box of red pens.
22. The Red Pyramid - Rick Riordan. Okay. Very similar to Percy. Liked Percy better (maybe just because I read that one first).
23. Poison Princess - Kresley Cole. Read again to remember for sequel. Enjoyed both times.
24. The First 50 Pages - Jeff Gerke. Okay book on writing.
25. Save the Cat - Blake Snyder. Okay book on screenwriting.
26. Holes - Louis Sachar. Great book for boys maybe 10-14ish.
27. Savvy - Ingrid Law. Really liked this one. Fun and cute and heartwarming younger YA.
28. How to Discipline Your Vampire - Mina Vaugh. It was okay. There was a lot of potential for more that I think got skipped over in favor of more sex scenes. It was a 1.99 Nook hold-me-over until the new Cole and Ward books come out.
29. Thoughtless - SC Stephens. I admit I got adicted, but I didn't want to. Found the writing to be over descriptive and the female protag was like reading Bella or Anna. But I loved the guys.
30. The Maze Runner - James Dashner. Mostly enjoyed.
31. Possession - JR Ward. Disappointing. This series just has no rules.
32. Effortless - SC Stephens. Nothing happens in this book.
33. Reckless - SC Stephens. Read because I wanted to know about Griffin and Anna. I didn't even care about Kellan and Keira anymore.
34. Allegiant - Veronica Roth. Extremely disappointing. No emotional attachment. Poorly written alternating POVs. Blah storyline.
35. Endless Knight - Kresley Cole. Loved it!
36. The Vengekeep Prophecies - Brain Farrey. Cute MG.
37. The Golden Compass - Phil Pullman. Reading and bored so far...

Not happy with the quality of writing I've picked up this year.

Re: 2013 Yearly Goal! Post books you read here.

I'll set my Goal to 50.

1. On Dublin Street (Samantha Young) - Love love loved
2. Backstage Pass, Sinners on Tour - OMG, I love steamy, but this one actually made me uncomfortable. So this was a nay
3. The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden (Jessica Sorensen) - I did like it. I have some mixed feelings about the leads, but I will read the sequel.
4. The Secret of Ella and Micha (Jessica Sorensen) - good, not great
5. Hopeless (Colleen Hoover) - LOVED
6. The Edge of Never (JA Redmerski) - LOVED LOVED
7. Leave me Breathless (Cherie Lyn) - Hot, fun read
8. Fallen too Far (Abbi Glines) - Towards the end I got into it, but it's a QUICK read. I read it one commute home and a couple of hours at night.
9. Wait for Me (Elisabeth Naughton) - It was ok.
10. The Vincent Boys (Abbi Glines) (I got it for .99 LOL) it was cute. I do love me a bad boy. Not reading the next book though.
11. Vain (Fisher Amelie) - LOVED LOVED LOVED!!!
12. Turning Point (Tiffany Snow) 3rd book in Kathleen Turner series - LOVED
13. Callum & Harper (Fisher Amelie) - it was good, some sad parts. Very young though.
14. Never too Far (Abbi Glines) - sequel to Fallen too Far. Good way to kill time until Reckless Chat Icon
14. Reckless (S.C. Stephens) - Amazing way to finish the trilogy. I'm in love w/ Kellan all over again.
15. Wait for you (J. Lynn) - I really liked it. Very sweet.
16. The Proposition (Katie Ashley) - At first I was like, this is so lame. But I definitely fell for Ella and Aiden. Good read.
17. The Proposal (Katie Ashley) I liked this one better than the first one.
18. 10 Days of Perfect (Andrea Randall) I got it for free. I would have paid for it. I really liked the characters
19. Reckless Abandon (Andrea Randall) Follow up to 10 days - I liked it so much better than the first book. Great ending.
20. Cross my Heart (Abigal Strom) another free read. Cute story. Quick read.
21. Falling into You (Jasinda Wilder) - Amazing. Cruel, beautiful and amazing. Loved it. Totally moved me.
22. The Wilde Series (Janelle Denison) - Got 3 books for .99. These are basically canned romance novels. Something to pass the time until Walking Disaster comes out Chat Icon
23. Walking Disaster (Jamie McGuire) - Beautiful Disaster in Travis' voice. BD was one of my favorite books and this just made it all better.
24. Find You in the Dark (Meredith Walters) - heartbreaking, gut wrenching, But omg, good!!! I'm going to read the 2nd book because I have to know what happens.
25. Cloud Walking (Meredith Walters) - The novella to FYITD. - Cute background story to 2 of the characters from FYITD.
26. Light in the Shadows (Meredith Walters) - follow up to FYITD. Fantastic ending. Full of angst, but I loved how it came together.
27. No More Wasted Time (Beverly Preston) - free book from Shh mom's reading. Nice change from all the YA I read Chat Icon Lead characters are older and constantly banging. LOL
28. Ruining Me (Nicole Reed) - unexpected ending - loved it, it's another tearjerker full of angst
29. Ruining You (Nicole Reed) - Follow up to Runiing Me. LOVED LOVED it.
30. Going Under (S. Walden) - WOW. Very disturbing subject matter, but well done. GREAT characters! I thought it was incredible.
31. One Week Girlfriend (Monica Murphy) - Really liked it. Trouble past, hot scenes.
32. Second Chance Boyfriend (Monica Murphy) - good follow up to OWG.
33. Fight or Flight (Jamie Canosa) - good book - talks about homeless teens
34. Twisted Perfection (Abbi Glines) - about Woods (From Fallen). I really liked it a lot. The lead female has an interesting back story. Now I have to wait for the 2nd book Chat Icon
35. Wreck Me (JL Mac) - I needed a cold shower! So hot and angsty and a great story and great cliffhanger.
36. Restore Me (JL Mac) - heartbreaking/warming follow up. Loved it and now I'm depressed I have to wait for the 3rd one
37. Relentless (Cassia Leo) - really liked
38. Pieces of You - follow up to Relentless (Cassia Leo) - liked even better
39. Down London Road (Samantha Young) - Really liked that the Dublin Street characters were in it. Good read.
40. The Upside of Letting Go (Nacole Stayton) - it was ok . I think I got it for free
41. The Forever of Ella & Micha (Jessica Sorensen) - definitely didn't need to be it's own book - but I did enjoy it.
42. Entwined with You (Sylvia Day) - didn't LOVE as much as the first two, but I did really enjoy
43. Forever Too Far (Abbi Glines) - SO many errors/mistakes. There didn't need to be a 3rd story - but I love Rush, so I'll allow it
44. The Sea of Tranquility (Katja Millay) - **** - amazing!!! Unbelievable character writing, I'm so in love w/ this book.
45. Out of Breath (Rebecca Donovan) -BEST out of the three in my opinion. It got mostly amazing reviews on GR, but there were a few bad ones. I just didn't get the poor reviews, I thought she really tied up the series and did a great job again w/ the characters. If you haven't read them yet, read Reason to Breath and Barely Breathing.
46. Off Limits (Sawyer Bennet) - Really liked it. Can't believe it was free. I actually cried a couple of times. Great characters. Definitely worth checking out.
47. Losing Hope (Colleen Hoover) - AMAZING. I loved Hopeless and Dean Holder is one of my favorite male characters. CH really did justice to his character in this book.
48. In a Heartbeat (Teodora Kostova) - it was ok. Slow in the beginning. She also didn't make a note or change when the different characters were "speaking". So at times it was confusing. She also wrapped it up a little quick for the story line.
49. Blessed Tragedy (HB Heinzer) - It was ok. There's a 2nd book in the male voice and I really see no need.
50. Collide (Gail McHugh)

Ok confession - I got the "Alpha Bad Boys 7-in-1 box set for .99. So I'm reading that too. Chat Icon
