Re: 2020 Accomplishments & Goals
I’m going to chime in here, sorry. I participated in the 2019 thread and complained that I just wanted to gain weight. I was at 110 lbs. I’m at 120-125 now and I’m very happy with that. I was 150 before. I’m short (5’3”), so it showed up easily.
Now I am in maintenance. My eating habits have changed quite a bit. I’ll have one big meal a day. The other meals will be hard boiled eggs and an open faced sandwich. I usually try to make the big meal about protein and veg. Once or twice a week I have pasta.
I also eat chocolate and cake here and there. And I drink wine, but sparingly. I don’t miss anything and I’m not really attracted to fast food at all.
I use a lot of spices and that helps me get the umami. It’s all working and I don’t really want to give in to my cravings. It’s really amazing the way one changes their food habits. It makes you not want the bad stuff.
Next thing I need to work on is exercise. All in good time.

You can do it! I have a whole new attitude towards food. I miss that full feeling, but it made me sick. I’m also poor, so I count out my servings.
But that feeling of full is a really important thing to watch out for. You don’t need it.

at the very end of 2018, i stumbled across Phit n Phat (she recently changed the company/plan name to the No BS Weightloss Program). it's a whole body/whole person type of program. i had done the free material and just last month decided to become a paying member because i realized i needed more help.
this plan/program works on helping you deal with the bull shit we carry around and the reasons we turn to food to solve our problems.
i'm re-starting the plan and paying attention to myself. i'm so happy i came back to it. since coming back, i've gone from 165.0 to today's weigh in of 158.4. i'm also working on cleaning up the crap in my head.

Re: 2020 Accomplishments & Goals
i'm continuing to keep keepin' on. the weight loss isn't a straight line, but it's happening.
as of this morning's weigh in, i am at a minus 9.4... this is from the highest i got in 2020. today, i weigh 155.6.
my ultimate weight loss goal is 134.8. 20.8 pounds to go.
for mother's day and my birthday i got TRX and resistance bands. i'm still learning how to use them all for what i want to accomplish, but i'm loving it.
little-by-little, i will get to my goal!!

My bf got a Pelaton recently but neither of us have used it. I'm usually awful at trying new things but I hear it's amazing and I'm going to make myself do it this weekend.
I've actually gained about 7 pounds and I feel horrible. Hopefully I'll get back on the wagon!

I'd love to get a Pelaton, but I just can't pull the trigger. Maybe it is because in the summer we try to do outside activities.

Re: 2020 Accomplishments & Goals
Today is my last weigh in for Q2 - July upcoming!
1. Weight wise I am right where I should/want be. I am maintaining 160 with a 5 pound swing.
2. Exercise is ok. No gym obviously. Trying too walk 2 miles daily, but also hurt my achillies again so I am working thru that. Gave up on the couch to 5k without starting because if I can't walk without hurting my achillies there is no way I will be able to run. Also jacked up my shoulder from working from home in a bad position, so that has been difficult to work thru.
3. Not surprisingly, skin removal surgery was postponed. New date is end of July, that was his first available. Also put down deposit for arm skin removal in Nov since that also causes me pain.
I've increased calories from 1200 to 1300 then 1500. In theory I should be around 1800 for surgery with high protein. Struggling with this a bit mentally but I'll work thru it.

Today is my last weigh in for Q1 - cant believe it's almost April.
1. I made goal at the beginning of this month! I am currently down 204 pounds. I lost 4 more pounds over goal!
2. Thumbs up on exercise 5x a week. More walking, less gym - some sessions are shorter than they would be than if I was in the gym, but that's OK!
3. Surgery is not cancelled - yet. Its in another state and not at a hospital, so maybe? Unknown at this point, 5 1/2 weeks to go, will take it as it comes.
Since I hit goal, I'm currently working on trying to figure out maintenance. I had a BMR test and they said my maintenance calories should be around 1600, but its not perfect. So I'm adding in 100 calories more every day for 2 weeks and reassessing what my weight did for those 2 weeks. In theory then I'll slowly figure out what my daily intake should be around.
Keep on keeping on, everyone!
Posted by Blazesyth
My 2020 goals:
1. Maintain my 195 pound loss and lose the last 5 before skin removal surgery! 2. Continue exercising/being active at least 5x a week 3. Making it thru the skin removal surgery with minimal impact to my new lifestyle (ie. dont go crazy with food and restarting physical activities after I'm cleared to go back.)

you are killing it... even if it hurts a bit, now.
can i ask about the calories? why do they want you consuming more calories before surgery?

They say that during recovery my body will need more calories and protein for proper healing. If I'm eating at normal or deficit levels my body will heal slower. I'm going to have about 7 feet of incisions so I have quite a bit of skin that needs to 'regenerate' and reconnect, along with all the nerves underneath.

interesting!
now that i think about it... it makes sense, since i've heard/read that people lose weight during recovery from surgery because the body has to work harder because it's putting pieces back together.
i will pray that nothing gets pushed back and that everything goes smoothly.

Re: 2020 Accomplishments & Goals
i'm starting to see the rhythms of my body.
i go through a period of losing and chugging along and then the following sequence will happen:
* i won't poop for a day or two * i won't pee as much * i'll have pms symptoms * the scale will go up a little * the scale will go up a lot (over a pound a day)
this rhythm will go on for about two weeks
then...
* i'll poop multiple times in a day * i'll pee like i'm drinking 5 gallons of water every five minutes * i might spot for a day or two * the scale will go down, down, down... almost back to where i started.
it's crazy.
i'm learning to not freak out... i don't always succeed. i'm learning to ride the wave and keep doing the good things i'm doing.
i just rode this wave and i'm happy to say that i'm only 0.4 lb over the weight i was before the wave started.
today, i weigh 155.4. little by little, i will get there.

That definitely sounds like hormones!!!! Are you possibly nearing menopause? Because its sounds like hormone change to me. Oh the joys of womanhood! Learning how not freak out about fluctuations like that, especially if you may not have control, is a huge thing! Little by little is great! You'll get there!

It may not feel like it, but 0.4 is negligible. Maintaining is just as much of an accomplishment as losing.

i'm 47. yep, it's hormones. i didn't get my cycle last november and december. i thought i was preggo. i was so scared. sometimes, i get my period twice in one month... sometimes, it will go 5 to 6 weeks before my next cycle. sometimes i get all the symptoms for weeks at a time, and nothing. joy, joy, joy!!
yes, being a woman ain't no joke!

true. i just want to lose a little more before going under the knife. but i'm "losing it like i'm living it," so slow and steady is perfectly fine for me. especially since i'm paying attention and noticing the patterns that don't require a freakout!

2020 Accomplishments & Goals
Finally back to 155.0!! My body went on another roller-coaster ride. I didn't freak out, this time... but I did stress a bit. Improvement, not perfection. I'll be in a better place, mentally, the next time it happens. I'm 20 pounds from goal!!
