Question for those of you in Apt Bldg or Condo Complex...
Do you give a gift and/or $$$ to the mgt office and custodial/super staff? In my apt bldg in NY years ago, I always gave a food gift to the ladies in the office and money individually to the super and his staff - but it was a very close-knit bldg and you really knew all the supers/janitors.
I have been in my condo complex since mid-August now and wondering what I should do. I was thinking of giving a little gift to the office staff but then I started wondering about the maintenance guys. I don't really know any of them - we've had to call maintenance to our apt about three times and it seems like they do a half-azz job - temp fixing of the problem.
What do you think?

When I was in my large complex years ago I didn't - I didn't like the people in the office and like you, there were so many maintenance people I didn't really know them at all.
When DH and I lived in a smaller complex last year, I did - we had a super as opposed to a management office and he was nice and helpful.

When I lived in a large complex, we didn't give them anything. We paid it through our very high rent for them to do the work they were supposed to do.

We give tips to the super & porters. I never even thought to send something to the mgmt company.

I was wondering about this too. The people who work in the office are really nice. DH goes into the office often b/c he receives a lot of packages. Even though it's a really large complex, the people in the office know who we are. I think we may bring them some type of edible gift basket.

We did the one Christmas we were in a complex.
The maintanence got a much bigger one than the office employees though. They worked hard and always were great to DH and I.
I made chocolate covered pretzals. Very easy to make.
