WOOHOO!!!!!!
DH's freelancers union that he joined last month came thru!!!! As of 2/1, we'll have health insurance again!!! I'm SO excited! I had to go to the dr the other day and it cost me $225 (his "discounted" rate- it should've been around $480). I wouldn't even get blood work done that they told me to b/c the tests were going to be over $400 and I didn't think it was necessary!! I'm SO relieved!!! This is the first time in my life that we've been w/o health insurance. It's scary... I've become so paranoid that something is going to happen to one of us. PLUS, the union just added a new dental plan that my dentist participates in!!! I had been checking for over a month and couldn't find his name in any of the plans. When I was filling out the application I checked one last time and he was there. It's going to cost us over $800 a month but we're used to paying almost $800 anyway so this should work out nicely!!! WOOHOO!!!

me too I don't miss my job but I definitely miss my insurance. But i got used to paying for COBRA so this shouldn't be too different. It's annoying though b/c DH and I are TTC and not having any success for a while now... and my insurance that i HAD covered 3 or 4 IVFs either 90% or fully covered (I forget) and this one doesn't cover any. But at this point I'm just happy to have insurance. That's the biggest drawback of being self employed. I'm so glad we looked into the freelancer's union. It was free to join the union, but then they charged us $90 for application fees and processing fees- but they're one time fees I think and now we'll have access to their discounted insurance!!! It was such a pain to get the paperwork approved though!
