woohoo! Verizon FIOS being installed on my block right now!
Its so much cheaper - anyone made the switch from Optimum to FIOS?

The only negative thing I've heard (which may or may not even be true) is that you need a box for every single TV to get even basic channels, like USA and TBS.
Does anyone know if this is true?

my parents switched for DirectTV to FIOS and are very happy. I love that you can record thing on the DVR and then play it back on other boxes! They also have great on demand programs.

Yes, Ive heard the same... also YOU pay to power it.....with the cable co., they power it...

I switched a while ago...I don't know for a fact that this is true but I suspect it is because the cable is different.
I'm very happy with it except for ONE tiny thing - I think the Optimum DVR box is better - holds more and has a friendlier user interface. But other than that - blazing internet speeds and NO pixelating and freezing up on the TV which used to be a big problem for us with Optimum.

We switched at my office but just for internet. No problems so far (got it in November)

Our building is being wired for this and I think will be available towards the end of the year. DH is dying to make the switch - everything is supposed to be better, faster & cheaper!

that's our big issue too
That was SO frustrating! That's why the minute FIOS became available for us we switched. Coincidentally, it happened most frequently with our premium channels or when we paid for an On Demand movie!

My mom just did. She said the TV clarity is unbelievable & she does not even have a high-def TV.
ETA: also when the power went out yesterday she was happy to still have a phone

we have Fios internet and it's amazing, haven't had one issue with the wireless.
we had the TV, and the HD was incredible...I did not like the DVR, it was confusing and mean...we switched back to Direct TV once DH chopped a tree down so he could have his sunday ticket back
I do miss the HD and DirectTV HD is ridiculous
