HSG Today...
Hey Ladies,
So I went in for my HSG today. Typically, I have a very high level of tolerance for pain, but apparently not for this. I know we're all about being honest on this site, so I hope you appreciate my honesty here - the test was extremely painful for me. The test started out like a typical gyno visit. No biggie I thought - this would be fine. Then, the doctor inserted the speculum, and I thought again, no biggie. When the doctor began to insert the catheter and then the balloon to keep my cervix open, I began to feel a great deal of pain. I'm thinking it's because today is cd10 and I'm about to ovulate any day now - maybe I was more sensitive than usual? Injecting the dye was also painful, and I had a lot of bleeding afterwards. I had the procedure almost eight hours ago, and the cramping is still pretty bad.
The good news with this procedure is that my tubes are not blocked and my uterus looks normal. Hearing this today makes the cramping worth it (lol!) and gives me (well, us) hope. Dh and I are going to try for a few more months without intervention, and then go back to the RE if things still aren't working. All of our tests came back normal, and maybe our issue is timing at this point.
Supposedly months after having an HSG the chances of conceiving are much higher because the injected dye cleans out residual guck. I hope this is really true!!!
for all of us and the cr.ap that we have to put up with to get what comes so easily for what seems like everyone else.

Re: HSG Today...
At least you got good news from it !!!....Mine was pretty painful also, not to mention that they had to do the procedure twice because the tech was apparently very inexperienced. in the midst of it all, knocked over the iodine all over the floor, put the wrong size balloon in , deflated it too quickly then had to do the whole thing again ...I too have heard that the success rate is higher following an HSG so hopefully it works for you !!!!

Re: HSG Today...
yes, totally try after HSG. I got pg that month I had it. Unfortunately i had a mc but I think it was do to my thyroid problem I didn't know I had and other factors that I'm still discovering. Good luck.

Re: HSG Today...
I am sorry it was rough for you. Everyone has a different experience with the HSG. Supposedly you are more fertile the 3 months after the HSG. Let's hope that's the case for you.

I had my HSG done last may due to an ectopic pregnancy. I got pregnant in July.

I am so sorry that you had such pain, but at least the results were good.
During mine, I had a surreal experience where I heard screaming and then realized it was me!

Re: HSG Today...
I am so sorry about the pain. I have a good friend who has twins and had 2 c/s and a cerlage and she says her hsg was more painful than all of those. I know its very different for everyone. So glad you got the all clear though!
