2nd baby question about lactation consultants and BF?
If you were made as miserable as I was the first go around...
Did anyone insist they NOT be visited by the breast-nazi's?
Just curious... not sure I'll have the cash for the private room at NSUH in time which stinks b/c I also had 2 roommate nightmares in the 4 days I was there, but at least I don't want any lactation consultants in my room at all. They were abusive the first time and ruined any chance of my being able to BF in my opinion. I may give BFing a few shots, but then offer the baby a bottle without any feelings of guilt, unlike the last time. DD ended up formula fed and she's thriving just fine.
I hate that hospital overall, but LOVE my OB so I have to go where he is... I'm high risk.

Re: 2nd baby question about lactation consultants and BF?
well none of the nurses bothered me when I was there but I called for the LC and it did not go well. when I have my next DC I will do my own research , and I will not give my DC a bottle first. I gave him a bottle and that was it he latched on but was not happy w how long it was taking. the LC was very pushy for me to keep him there ( he was screaming). after she left I gave him another bottle. when she came back and asked how it went , I lied and said Great and hoped she wouldn't come back!

Re: 2nd baby question about lactation consultants and BF?
My experience was that with #1 they wouldn't leave me alone. With #2 I saw her once. I actually had a couple of questions and she seemed to be annoyed (as if I should already know). My Best Friend just had a baby yesterday and was just saying that last time the lactation consultatant wouldn't leave her alone. This time she hasn't see her yet.
Maybe they won't bother you since you're a seasoned mom.

I will so use this. DD wouldn't latch on and she also screamed and I had a horrible roommate that made a nasty comment about her screaming and disturbing her Some people go to the hospital to have a baby and they think they are on a club med vacation. Seriously, the second roommate had her husband stay . Anyway, I spent about a month miserable b/c the LC's told me I was giving my DD "liquid heroin" a.k.a. baby formula. Finally when she was about 5 weeks old and I was exhausted from trying to pump and get her to take the breast and feeling like a failure... I looked at her little face and said to myself... ENOUGH. I gave her a bottle of formula without any feeling of guilt and stopped the pumping. I finally was able to enjoy my new baby. Sad isn't it?
I will lie if they come in to get them to go away.
