2yr old Cousin diagnosed with leukemia...need gift suggestions.
My cousin's son (almost 2) was diagnosed with leukemia a few weeks ago. My cousin and his wife are devestated and not near family as they live in Vegas. He has type ALL, which is the kind with the best survival rate especially with children. He has already started chemo and it's been rough.
My question is, what can we send them? Domenic has gotten tons of gifts, I want to send something for the parents who are age 30-32. I think flowers, fruit, etc is a nice gesture, but not really special.
Any suggestions? This is their only child.

What about tickets to a local amusement park for when he's feeling up to it ? Not sure what is near Vegas

I am so sorry to hear that....how tough it must be to see your child sick like that. BUT it sounds like he has great odds at getting through this, even though it'll be rough for a while...
If I were the parents I'd prob really appreciate a gift card for dinner. Even a visa/amex gift card with a thoughtful note about how they should use the card to go out one night for themselves...something along that line.
I know you said that the fruit thing isn't special, but I really loved getting an edible arrangement delivery after I had johnny...the chocolate covered strawberries were sooo good! I know it isn't the same thing as what they're going through, but I really did think it was special!
Sending prayers to your cousin!!!

I thought about that, but in the last two weeks Domenic has put on so much weight and it's upsetting to his mother. I guess lots of kids crave starches and rices (it has to do with the chemo). He's ballooned (he was not even a chubby kid before) and it's so upsetting for his parents. They won't even send us pictures through shutterfly like they use to.

I like the movie/toy/craft basket or else just dinner gift certs now - i'm sure mom and dad have more on their mind then what to make for dinner.

How about food from some kind of meal delivery service? If they're running around and stressed with the chemo treatments and taking care of DS, maybe they don't have time to make dinners?

I agree. Food is the last thing you think of & the one thing you really need.

I dont know what gifts to send, but I pray that your cousin beats this.
My dad died of Leukemia, but he had AML and its the worst one, plus he was 62. Its really tough on the family.

Re: 2yr old Cousin diagnosed with leukemia...need gift suggestions.
Don't send flowers--if DC has an impaired immune system (probably will from leukemia and chemo), these are not recommended.
I would order food of some kind for the parents--they are probably so busy and exhausted and aren't eating right themselves. Does netflix do gift cards? That's another thought since they probably aren't leaving the house a lot.
My DH was recently diagnosed with leukemia (different type), and I would have loved a maid to clean the house during his treatment, though I'm not sure if that will be easy to arrange.
I hope their DC comes through well, so sad.
