3+ months and bottle feeding question
Hannah will be 14 weeks on Friday. I started giving her 7 oz bottles 6 times a day a few weeks ago. She ended up dropping one of the bottles over night and doesn't always take the full 7 oz, so she's been taking 30 -35 oz a day.
Well the last few days she's drinking the full 7 oz every bottle and she's drinking it fast - like she's starving. She also started waking earlier. SO my question is do I push her bottles up to 7 1/2 - 8 oz? I feel like 40 oz a day is a lot. What do you think?
FYI she's a bigger girl for her age 24 1/4 inches and 14 lbs (95th/90th percentile).
Thanks

I wouldn't push. Jiavana is 6 mths and still doesn't take more than 4 oz at a time. She never wants more than 4. I let her take what she wants when she wants.

She seems to want more than the 7oz - that's my concern. Should I continue to give her more?
I can't believe Jiavana only takes 4oz! My DD is a piglet - LOL

Re: 3+ months and bottle feeding question
I make all my bottles at 8 ounces. sometimes she takes the whole thing- sometimes she takes 6 ounces sometimes she takes 7 ounces but- i never know what bottle she'll take how much of, so I just make them all 8 ounces....
Maddie takes about 5 bottles a day 6.30am, 10.00am, 1.30pm, 5.00pm, 8pm (last bottle of the day)..
all told she takes between 30-40 ounces a day- but safe bet is 35

Re: 3+ months and bottle feeding question
I wouldn't push that extra 7oz's, but maybe it might be time to start some cereal, it's a little more filling than formula.
I didn't do cereal til 6months, only because Gianna's not a big eater, and is only around the 50th percentile for weight and on PEd's rec.
I would def call your ped and see what he/she says.

Re: 3+ months and bottle feeding question
my doctor told me to give her what she wants when she wants. now she is pretty much set in her ways but if she is hungry I wouldn't deny her. maybe after the 7 oz make another 1 or 2 oz so you don't waste a lot.
Have you spoken to your doctor about starting cereal. That will fill her up moe and she may not have the urge for more ounces.

Re: 3+ months and bottle feeding question
Ped said we can talk about cereal after 4 months - which is 2 weeks away.
SO hopefully she'll get something to fill that tummy of hers! She's a BIG eater. She's also very hyper. She's always got her hands and feet going full force. She must burn her calories LOL.

Re: 3+ months and bottle feeding question
She looks so tiny and petite in the pictures! Just about 2 weeks ago Ava would scream after her 6 ounce bottle and I started giving her 7 ounces. Sometimes she would drink it all, sometimes not. My doctor asked how much she was eating and I said 6-7 ounces, 5 bottles a day and he made a face like "that's a lot" so he told me if I find she's not satisfied to go ahead and start her on cereal and we did and she loves it. Now she's drinking 6 ounces and is satisfied. Don't know if it's a coincidence or what, but that is where we are at. HTH.
