3 year old SLOW eater
I'm not exaggerating when I say it will take Mallory (she's 3) about an 1 hour (more often than not it takes more than an hour) to eat her meals (she even does it in restaurants).. she sits and eats slowly, sings some songs, yadda yadda.. takes FOREVER! I don't know what to do because I don't want to rush her or nag at her but at the same time, it's ridiculous, especially if we have somewhere to go. It's not like she's being picky or complaining about being at the table, she just is in no rush. Anyone else have this issue?

Re: 3 year old SLOW eater
I have this issue with my 2 year old. This morning it took him about an hour/hour and 15 minutes to eat 2 pancakes... It's not that he doesn't want it, he just is a slow eater.
However I must add that when it's a food that he really loves he will swallow faster.

Re: 3 year old SLOW eater
From a medical standpoint, her tonsils MAY be enlarged making it hard to swallow, thus she eats slower. I know a couple of children that had this problem (including my son) and had the tonsils out. Or, she could just be a slow eater for no reason other than she wants to be.
I will tell you, it turns into an issue when they start school because they only have 30 minutes (or less) to finish their meal.
Maybe you could make a game out of it, set a timer and tell her she has to finish by the time the bell rings and she gets a sticker or something?

OMG now that you say that, she's been making this weird throat clearing noise alot lately and we keep telling her to stop cause it's annoying.... I wonder if it is that!

Get out the flashlight and take a peek at them and see if they are obstructing her throat. I would make an appt. with the ped. Or if you don't need a referal, just contact an ENT directly.
