36 wks, 1cm dilated, 50%effaced with QUESTION...

What does this mean? Should I start preparing myself that I may go early? Or, does this mean nothing.

This is freakin me out....I 'm not ready yet!!!! I think I may be one of the few people that does NOT want to go early!

Any info or guidance would be appreciated!!!! THankk you!!!

I was dilated 2cm from 36weeks up until the end but not 50% effaced. Sounds like your cervix is thinning out pretty quickly. What did your Dr. say?

it's really hard to say. what i've gathered is that it is impossible to tell how quickly or slowly your cervix will progress. one of my friends, for example, was 1.5cm dilated and 75% effaced at 37 weeks and didn't go until 39 weeks. another one of my friends was 0% everything and did it all in a matter of a few hours at 38 weeks! and yet another person i know was 4cm dilated for the last 10 weeks of her pregnancy, and she went at 40 weeks!

so i wouldn't place TOO much stock in those numbers... i would relax and continue preparing as usual.

It means pretty much nothing. Some people walk around dialted for weeks, others go very quickly when dialted.
Personally, I had no progress at my doctor's appointment on a Thursday and early the next Tuesday, my water broke and I was suddenly dialted and ready to go.

Just make sure your bag is packed and the car seat is installed...just in case!

I was 1 cm dilated at 35 weeks and was like that for 2 weeks until they induced me. Yoy can walk around dilated for weeks and nothing.
Here is to some labor vibes though. I would say prepare anyway

i was 80% effaced and 3.5 cm dilated at 32 weeks. Now at 37 weeks I am about 90% effaced and 4 cm dilated...

so you never know? if could mean baby is coming soon, or not??? i think everyone is just different!!

Your body is preparing. It could take a while or it could be next week. Everyone is different.

I'd probably get your last preparations done soon though so you can relax and rest up for baby.

Those stats are not a good indicator of when you will go into labor. I was almost 3 cm with my first son at 37 weeks and he was still a week late.

I was 2cm/100% effaced for 2 weeks before my water broke, so it doesnt have to mean anything... there is just no way to tell when the baby will decide to make an appearance..

I was 1cm dilated and 50% effaced at my 35 week appointment. I then sat at that for an additional 4 weeks. Basically- it means nothing.....

Could mean something might mean nothing....Im basically some where around there myself and Im 35 weeks..with my history it basically means that I will go early BUT we know this b/c Ive never made it past 36 weeks!!! But then again who knows!!!!???? You might get to hear me here, still pregnant, whining all the way into September!!
