AFP results.... Update went for the amnio Update #2 went for another Sono
my chances of downs syndrome are 1 and 7 which means 85% its all ok... I feel sick to my stomach.. I have to go for an amnio under my Dr recommendations.. I need to prepare myself.. Please pray for me and my baby.. I cant stop crying.. Has anyone heard of bad results like this and everything ok?   :cries
update: I went in w/my sister.. She is a nurse.. Dh is away.. I will have the results on Thurs.. Thanky you EVERYONE FOR ALL THOSE PRAYERS.. The power of prayer runs deep!!
Update #2.. I just got back from the dr and had my Sono... The tech was a blessing from God.. She pointed out all the things that are normal.... The ones that may show up as abnormal if there was a downs baby.. ie: the heart is showing a normal 4 chambers. The neck fold measures a 1 (perfect) The soft tissue in the nose is normal not short.. She helped me get through the next 2 hours of my life.. I am so ashamed that I have so much faith usually and can really trust God but in this case I have failed miserably... I failed his test i just know it.. But you have all had the faith and hope and trust for me i am forever thankful to everyone of you..

85% that it will all be okay?? That doesnt seem like too bad a percentage. Try and stay positive...nothing is set in stone just yet.

Good luck with the amnio-- but, keep in mind those AFP tests are just screenings and do not provide any definitive results.

I had a 1 in 10 chance that DS had Trisomy 18, which is fatal. DS is just fine.-we did a sono at 20 weeks to look for markers, and they found none. I felt that was better for 'me' to do than the amnio.
See if they can do another sono to look for markers if you don't want to do the Amnio. But do the amnio if that makes you feel better.
Many prayers for you, I know this is difficult to go through.

Do not be devestated yet....please....these are the sort of reasons that some women do not do these tests AT ALL....because of the worry and panic that sets in because of them.
you WILL get through this....it WILL be okay!!!!!!!!

The same exact thing happened to my friend. AFP came back i think around 1 in 8 or so, and she did the Amnio, and everything was perfectly fine. AFPs can be wrong for all sorts of reasons, and its a marker, it doesnt mean ur little one will have downs. Please try and stay come, you are in my thoughts!!

Don't worry, my sister had the same thing and the baby was fine. afp is not the end all be all- did you do a nuchlar sonongram? I am sending my best to you.

Don't lose hope yet. Remember the AFP is just a screening test. I really hope the amnio will give you better news.
Did your 12 week ultrascreen tests come back normal?
