3rd Trimester girls...What sort of exercise are you doing? How often?

I'm 31 weeks and still teaching dance in addition to going on a few walks with my dog a week and I do the elliptical for about 10 min a day. This is a huge decrease from what I'm used to (pre-preggo) I feel very good and have a lot of energy like I could do more but I don't know where to draw the line. So what does your exercising (if any) consist of?

i'm only doing yoga - I shoot for at least 2x a week.

All kidding aside, i don't do any organized/planned exercise, but I do have an almost-2-yr-old son and we live in a 2nd floor walkup, so I'm certainly getting plenty of exercise. Chat Icon

Melissa I did the elliptical and lifted weights until the day before my due date!!!!!!!!!!!! If you exercised before pregnancy you can continue!

It was by far the best thing I ever did for myself! I had hardly any complaints pregnant, had an easier labor (I pushed the baby out in maybe 4 pushes) and it seems my body is bouncing right back now postpartum!!!

That's awesome Kristin, what sort of weights were you doing. I used to do so much cardio and weight training but people are scaring me, making me think I'm doing something wrong continuing my workouts even when I lowered my intensity (obviously).

I do workouts on demand. Sounds like a joke, but they are pretty hardcore. Squats, push ups, planks, etc. I do it about 5 times a week.

Just taking walks every weekend. I was on pelvic rest starting at 17 weeks, ending at 20 weeks, and wasn't allowed to go to the gym during that time. Before that I was doing zumba and yoga.

just legs and arms. For arms I was still using 10 lb dumbells. As far as cardio I was still going for about a half hour. I of course cut my intensity way down but I could still do a lot more than I thought! I worked out 5 times a week!!! It was perfectly fine and now I'm feeling better than ever! My baby of course is fine! You can continue anything you were doing, but just be careful not to overdo it. Keep an eye on your heartrate and don't go overboard.

I am not in the third timester but I have been going to the gym and hvae received the same response from many people. I know they are not doing it on purpose but I feel like they are trying to scare me into not going and it stinks. I still do weights, treadmill, bike and elliptical (not all in the same day). I fell great and plan on continuing as long as I am able.

I walk or ride my stationary bike (depending on weather) for 1/2 hr.-40 min 4 times a week. I also use light weights 2 times a week (1 time upper body and 1 time lower body).
