3yr old preschool class size - how many kids are in your DC's class and

how many teachers/assistants ?

Just curious.

I'm asking bc I registered DD for September, at a Catholic school.
I didn't go to an orientation, but few parents did from DD's mommy and me class (the class is at this Catholic school) and they were told normally it's between 10-15 kids and 4-5 teachers/assistants, and if they have more than 15 kids then they open another classroom.
Today one of the parents said that she just registered yesterday and was told there will be 15-20 OR more kids in one class room, one teacher and one assistant.
Now I'm kinda p*****d (like some other parents who heard this today) bc I personally think that's too much (too many kids and not enough teachers) . I called the school, spoke to someone , she said it depends how many kids register this year, but yes there is one teacher and one assistant and between 15-10 kids , but she also said she can't be 100% sure and to call tomorrow and talk to the principal.
Th reg fee is non-refundable.....
I just don't see how 2 adults are going to take care of 15- 20 or more BARELY potty trained 3 yr old kids.

Maybe I'm just being crazy

23 kids and four - five teachers - one of the teachers seems to only come in 2 days a week.

13 total in the class, but they come on different days. I don't think there's 1 day that the whole class is there.

Right now he is in the 2 year old class but I was told the 3 year old class is the same.
There are 11 kids, one teacher and one assistant...

Up to 12 students max, with 1 teacher and 2 teachers aides....but it's an "inclusion" pre-school class so some of the kids have special needs, therefore more staff.

I totally understand where you're coming from... I stressed about this the whole summer before DS entered nursery school. Seemed like too high of a ratio to me, felt like DS would "slip through the cracks" if you know what I mean, because he's a pretty low-maintenance kid and maybe all the attention might go to other kids who are more needy for it. Anyway, I was completely wrong. Everything is great-- as for the potty issue, I know they do a scheduled bathroom trip midmorning for everyone to "try", one teacher will take all the boys and the other will take all the girls. If a kid has to go at another time, they just ask the assistant. And when it came time for parent/teacher conferences, I was really impressed with how much the teacher was in tune with my DS's strengths and weaknesses, and his personality. In the end the class size worked out just fine for me.

DD is is nursery school, but they have pre-school in there before her. They have 15 students, 1 assistant and 1 parent volunteer each day.

In DS's class it varies each day between 7 & 11 kids, but there is always 1 teacher and 1 assistant.

Last year when DD was in nursery there were 16 children and 2 teachers. At first I thought that was A LOT...but it worked out fine.

This year she's in pre-k. There are 27 kids and 3 teachers. Can you imagine?! However, when I tell you that you can hear a PIN drop in that class...you can hear a PIN drop. It is the MOST orderly group I have ever seen--especially for that age. And they are learning sooooo much! I wouldn't stress it!

13 kids 2 teachers. Our preschool is merging with it's other location next year so it wil be 18 kids and 3 teachers in very small classrooms

DS is in the 3 yr old program now and there are 13 kids total, 1 teacher and 1 aide

DD is in the 2.5 year old program is there are 16 kids total. 1 teacher and 2 aides

In the 3 year old program at my DD's school there are 10 children, 1 teacher and 1 assistant.

From what I remember from when I worked in a Pre-K/Daycare program, the ratio is somewhere around 7 to 1( not sure exactly). but that was a daycare mot school. As for the potty issue - it's not just a Catholic school rule. Teachers are not allowed to clean up and touch the kids. Now some do bc. it would be cruel not to, but they do it at the risk of breaking the rules. Most of the time they talk the kids through the process of cleaning themselves. Hopefully they are understanding and compassionate.
