4 month old sleep question
Sorry if this is long!
My DD is 4 months old. Generally, she sleeps from 8:30PM to 5:30/6A (Which we are grateful for). After she has her morning bottle, we keep her upright for about 30 min to digest (slight reflux issues) and then put her back to sleep since sometimes she rubs her eyes and seems tired still.
She will then sleep another 2/12 to 3 hours (in her swing- we are still working on crib naps), get up around 9/9:30AM play a little then have a bottle around 10AM. My question is should I be letting her sleep that long- is it considered a nap or is she "going back to sleep"? Or, should we just be starting the day around 5:30/6AM and letting her stay up her usual 2 hours? What do you all do?
I just have no idea how she will ever get on a nap schedule!
TIA!

Re: 4 month old sleep question
hmmm considering she is sleeping 2.5-3 more hours..id say it's her "going back to sleep". whatever works..if that works..keep it going.. they change sooo often anyway..

Re: 4 month old sleep question
DD is 4 1/2 months now but she's on a similar schedule.
I'm not sure exactly what you are able to do based on your own schedule, but I really try to let her decide as far as the morning goes.
She usually sleeps from 8 pm until 4:30 or 5:30 am, eats, and then stays up an hour, then goes back to sleep for about 2 hours. During the day, her naps are almost always exactly 35 minutes long (she generally takes 4 naps a day still).
Once in a while she'll take one longer nap mid-day instead and then only take one in the afternoon.
I do adjust her schedule around our needs, though.
Our ped said that at this point, babies are usually asleep for 12 to 16 hours of their 24-hour day. So you can play it by ear. But it seems to be widely understood that the more a baby sleeps during the day, the better they will sleep overnight. Counter-intuitive, but seems to be true.

Re: 4 month old sleep question
Thanks! I guess I will just follow her cues and go with it for now!
