4 month sleep regression
so it seems like nearly everyone on this board has been through this.
if this happened to your DC, i thought maybe we could post advice on what worked and what didn't on this thread.
our story:
DS was an amazing sleeper from 5 weeks on. he was sleeping through the night at 8 weeks. we always tried to put him down for the night drowsy but awake, but he was almost always asleep by the time we put him in his crib.
we swaddled him until he was 4 months old, that is when he started breaking out of the swaddle me, so we stopped cold turkey and after a few nights he was sleeping well again.
that lasted a few days, a week at most.
from about 4 months through 5 months old, DS was waking many times a night. if he woke up two-three times that was a good night. the main issue was that he would need the pacifier to fall asleep and when it fell out he would wake up and dry.
so finally at 5 months we did CIO. we took away all of his pacifiers, cold turkey. he wasn't even allowed them during the day. the first night he cried for 1/2 hour (HYSTERICALLY) and fell asleep. the next night was 20 minutes i think.
NOTHING else worked for us and i tried almost everything, believe me
so as much as it totally sucked, i think it's pretty common.
but if anyone has advice on how to get through this i am sure there are lots of mommies who can use it!

Re: 4 month sleep regression
Great thread! DD had this too, she is a resltess sleeper, she never needed the pacifer to fall asleep at night but all of the sudden would start waking up in the middle of the night looking for it a few times....some nights were horrible and she would not want to fall back asleep so I would bring her back up to our room in the bassinet and would sleep like a log so it got me thinking that she may still like the feeling of being enclosed, she hated being swaddled but maybe the crib was just too "big" for her so I whipped out the old sleep positioner that worked a bit, but bc it's elevated she started slipping down it and would wake herslef up when she got to the bottom and started rolllig over onto her stomach and doing push ups...then there was a while of a mini growth spurt where she wouold wake up hungry.....well I HOPE we finally turned a corner, we got a sleep positioner that is not elevated the air flow one and the past few nights she's slept for 12 hours She's going to be 5 months in roughly a week and a half!!!!!!
