4 year old peeing a lot?

My ds had peed about 20 times so far today

No pain no fever

I'm assuming a uti?

Pediatrician is closed due to snow.

Is there any other explanation for this?

DS did that at one point. As a diabetic, my first thought was to check his blood sugar. After we decided that it wasn't that, we started asking him questions about why he was going so much. It turned out that he was so nervous about peeing himself that he would go constantly, just to make sure he wouldn't have an accident.

Is he backed up? My DD will occasionally do this is she has to go #2.

Is he very thirsty? Because if he is, that in combination with excessive peeing would have me get his blood sugar checked.

This was my son a few weeks ago. Dr. was worried about diabetes, however it turned out he had mono! Good luck!

My son did this also right at age 4. The day of his birthday party actually. Rushed him to the ped thinking it was a UTI. The ped said it was behavioral, due to anxiety. It is more common in boys. He said not to make a big deal of it or comment on his constant need to go to the bathroom and that it would resolve on it's own. It last 3 days. Gone by Monday when he went back to school.

ETA: It's called Pollakiuria.

We were at the ped for my other ds and I asked the dr
She said a lot of kids that age go through this but also testing urine for a uti.
