4 year old tea-party, need suggestions
I decided it would be fun to throw my DD her first kiddie party. At the most there will be 6 girls.
I thought to have it from 1:30-3:30pm
Do you think 2 hours is enough? I figured I'd write on the invite something like, "parents please participate in the fun." (hint hint stay & help)
Olivia theme. I thought I'd set up a kid version of tea. If I can find plastic tea cups even better! Make little treats & of course a birthday cake too.
And then I thought to make cupcake or sugar cookies and plan to let them decorate their own. (good activity right?)
I'm clueless with kiddie parties so any help would be great!
Is desserts fine for the parents too? Do I need food?

Re: 4 year old tea-party, need suggestions
that sounds AWESOME I may steal it!
I'd do some finger sandwiches, chicken salad, tuna, PB&J if no allergy issues are around and cut them into small triangles. Or they can help make their own and use a flower cookie cutter to cut them out.
I love the decorate your own cookie.
Hope you share your results
ETA: Walgreens usually sells tea sets.. like 4 to each set but they are cheap enough you can get two sets and you'd have two 'pots' to share the goodie with.
ETA #2: are you doing 'casual time time' or a proper High Tea. Just thinking of outfits and favors haha you really got me thinking about this.

If you want the parents to stay, I would offer food to them.
www.haloheaven.com has boas, gloves, etc. that would be cute for a tea party. Dirt cheap too

LOVE the cookie cutter sandwich idea! I have the cutters already!
I'm going to check with the school to ensure allergies (should I put it on the invite?)
What kind of food for 2 hours for parents? Appetizers enough?
This will be in my house.
I was going to get bracelets, rings, beaded necklaces, boas for each setting. I thought to write on the invite, wear your favorite party tea hat.

Or they can make one there.. hahaha..
Im super casual (im a jean and tshirt gal through and through) so I'd say something like Come in your Jeans, leave a Lady of Tea. lol but thats for me since I'd have no clue how to dress Aj for a tea party (tho Im sure I'd figure it out) and I'd like the girls to run outside and play and would hate to dirty up dresses and good shoes. I could/would make a tea hat tho..
and maybe refer to them as Lady
Lady Arianna, Lady Maribelle, etc. even make place cards LOL

Re: 4 year old tea-party, need suggestions
I think I'd like to see them come in party dresses & further dress up here in jewels & boas.
My DD loves dresses, so I know I could not possibly tell her no dress.

It's in my home, mid-march. So might be cold still for anything outdoors. I have an empty dining room Literally....it's our last room to buy for this year, BUT that's perfect space for setting up for them. I have a VERY large living room for games?
What did you do? I have no clue how long the party should be, activities (I'm thinking decorate a dessert, maybe make a beaded necklace, I thought decorating straw hats, but that could get messy)
TIA!!!!!!

Re: 4 year old tea-party, need suggestions
I am throwing a tea party for my 5 yo DD this weekend. We asked the girls to dress up in their favorite princess dresses. When they come we are going to have 3 stations, a dress up station, a nail station to get nails done and a necklace making station. After they go to all three, we are having the tea. We are serving sandwiches, muffins, scones and snacks. For drinks we are having apple juice, pink lemonade and decaf tea. After the tea we are going to have them make crowns while we set up for dessert. I am going to make cupcakes, cake pops and choc covered pretzels. After cake DD wants to have a dance party so they'll play freeze dance and then it will be time to go home. We bought tea cups for 1.99 each at Christmas tree shop.
If you have any questions about doing the party I'd be happy to help.

Cute ideas! How long is your party? So you're doing the food & dessert? I don't want the parents to think I'm stuffing their kids (I tend to do that with adult parties)
I like the idea of stations, but I only have 6 kids (small start to her making friends)
My DD wants hot cocoa WITH MARSHMELLOWS

It's only going to be about 2 hours. I tend to overplan. Better to have too much to do than not enough. You could always just do the dress up table or a craft.

Re: 4 year old tea-party, need suggestions
Yes, even at 4, I don't want her to be known as having lame parties
I figured: 1. Make a beaded necklace 2. Dress-up 3. Tea 4. Duck duck goose, freeze dance, hot potato or some other games 5. Decorate their own cookie, cupcake, or rice krispy "cupcake" 6. Cake 7. More game if time?

I did my DD's at home too.. Her room is huge and she invited her best pals and I set up all of her dressup clothes for them to get dressed up and I had tutus/feather boas/tiaras and tea sets for each of the "ladies" to wear. .I even had a tea pot cake with cupcakes to go with it.. I didn't go too crazy but the girls had a blast.. I had alot of adults at the party so I went all out on food
