And yes to everything.
DC already got seasonal flu shots and will be getting 2009 H1N1 when it becomes available.
DH and I will also be getting seasonal flu shots and 2009 H1N1 if we can.

H1N1 regular shot
are you getting it? - No, never have, never will.
is DC? - Unfortunately yes which one or both? - Only the regular one (preservative free)
why?...I had no choice as it's mandated by the state I live in for children in daycare 6+months to have the shot.

Re: Official ALL THINGS FLU RELATED Thread
my answers...
emma is too young to get any flu shot..right now and when her 6 month time comes - we'll discuss it with the doc.
dave & i both got the flu shot for the first time EVER. we also asked that our sitter get it too & she agreed without a problem. Did i want to get it? No - i've never had one and never had the flu - but it boils down to i will do ANYTHING to protect my little girl.
H1N1 - no

Re: Official ALL THINGS FLU RELATED Thread
are you getting it? No I am not getting either is DC? Ds did but now i regret it which one or both? ds had the regular, will not have the h1n1 why?I am allergic to the base of the vaccine and due to pregnancy can not get the nasal form.... i honestlly think that the h1n1 is a very overly publicized virus which can mutate easily and so the vaccine is not as necessary with us never going out... ds was sick for 2 weeks after he had his flu shot which is why i regret him getting it...

Re: Official ALL THINGS FLU RELATED Thread
Regular flu shot: DS already had his at his 2 year visit. We live in NJ and it is now required for children in daycare and pre school.
Me: I am trying to find the preservative free seasonal flu shot for myself as I am pregnant and I can't find it anywhere.
H1N1: DS will probably not get it as it won't be available at his peds office and I don't know where to get it for him.
Me: As of yesterday I think I came to the conclusion to get it, now it's a matter of finding it.

Regular- Yes for DD, it is the first time in her almost 3 years. Me- will probably get regular flu shot
H1N1- DD's ped does not have it and may not get it. She will probably not get it because her docs are not sure of it yet.

Re: Official ALL THINGS FLU RELATED Thread
We will all be getting the annual regular flu shot (my ped is out right now but once they get more, the kids, 1(getting the preservative free) and 3, will be getting it). DH will get his from work and I will go to a walk-in center to get mine. None of us will be getting the H1N1 shot this year. Maybe once it has been fully tested but not right now.
In NJ, it is state mandated that all children entered in schools have to get the regular flu shot (unless they are exempt from ALL vaccinations - you can't pick and choose with religious or personal exceptions)

Re: Official ALL THINGS FLU RELATED Thread
DS, DH and I have all received our seasonal flu shots.
I wasn't going to get the H1N1.
However now I am second guessing it for my son. His pediatrician is recommending it although they do not have it yet. And, someone that I work withs twins just both had swine flu this week. I'm nervous for DS.

Both my DC have received the seasonal flu shot. I am not to sure if I am going to get it.
We are all passing on the swine flu shot. I do not like the fact that it contains mercury and it is so new.

Just and FYI not an endorsement- but the swine flu shot is available preservative free.

Re: Official ALL THINGS FLU RELATED Thread
DD is too young for either shot.
DH and I both got the regular flu shot.
We will both get the H1N1 shot when it becomes available to us.
The thought of my DD getting the swine flu scares me and I will do anything I can to protect DD from contracting it. IMO, since it is made the exact same way as the regular flu shot with the exception of the viral proteins, it doesn't pose any additional risk than the seasonal flu shot.

You are right - it is called Celvapan. Hopefully drs are informing themselves and their patients about the options out there. It is going to be hard to find, but it is out there.
