Talk me off of this ledge.

I'm going for a Cat scan tomorrow, I know I've posted about it and I haven't been feeling well. I have Crohns.

I'm nervous about the cat scan only because a few years ago I had one when I didn't feel well and I was so sick that they wouldn't let me go home. They had my doc on the phone at the radiology place telling me not to go home and to go directly to the hospital.

I was alone, not feeling well and had to drive myself there.

I was a mess..

Even though I don't feel well now I know I'm not that sick as that time, but I still have the fear that I will have the same experience.

I originally told DH not to come, it's no biggie, but all of a sudden it is a big deal to me. He is coming with me.

I can intellectualize this over and over again in my mind. I'm a big girl, I have control over my actions.etc..If I need to go to the hospital so be it..etc..I just can't shake the fear.

Ok, discuss and analyze.

oh boy....i am so there with you. my mind goes a million bajillion miles a minute and I obsess over everything and the "what-if"s never end. Although right now I am sitting here with chest pain from anxiety, what I have been doing lately is telling myself to "let go and let God". It is an expression from AA. (No I am not an alcoholic). I don't know if you are religious but maybe there is something similiar you can tell your self. It's a control issue. I have to remind myself that I cannot control or change certain things. I either have to go with it or change the things I am capable of changing.

Make any sense or am I rambling?

Totally normal.

Anytime you have a bad experience, its totally normal to feel hesitant in repeating whatever it was that made you feel that way.

I'm glad you have your DH going with you .

If its that bad, I would speak to your Dr about that.

Do you try any relaxation techniques?

My dd has Ulcerative Colitis and we just went thru another active phase. I pray you get the relief you need soon so you can feel good again

second, it will all be over in 24 hours and you will know for sure.

since you're not feeling sick this time around, IMO, chances are pretty slim they will tell you to go to the hospital again.

hang in there, I know it's easier said than done.

Can you try to distract yourself by planning to do something fun (even if it's curling up on the couch) after the test, so you can focus a tiny bit on the fun thing and just a little bit less on the anxiety?

You poor thing! I found cat scans relatively easy since I just had to sit there. I closed my eyes & pretended I was at the beach. I could have easily fallen asleep even over the banging except for the technician that would yell into my headphones, "You're almost done. Hang in there."

I'm not sure what made you sick last time, but my guess is that it probably won't happen again. One thing that always helped me when I was stressed or in pain is to breath out slowly.

I hope it goes quickly & that the results are everything you need them to be!
