Finally… my birth story with pics
On Saturday morning I woke up around 8am and I thought my water broke, we called the dr he said come to the hospital to get checked out. We got there around 930 ish. I was seen by a resident who said my water had not broken but I was going to be put on a monitor and she would call my dr. She came back a little while latera nd she saw i was having mild contractions and I said “I think my water broke for real this time” she checked and sure enough it had.
Now it became soo real...........
I was going home with my baby girl.
From 10aam-10pm I was on a monitor , given my epi when the pain got bad enough, was given a little pitocin to help me along but basically I was dilating all on my own. At about 10 the dr came in and said you're 10 cm are you ready to push? I said ok and an hour and a half later at 11:33.P.M (it would have been shorter but I got sick in between and they had to change all the bedding and my gown and it was a mess) Allison Rose entered the world weighing in at TEN POUNDS, 20 ½ inches long. She was perfectly healthy from the start but me on the other hand…….
They started to get the after birth out and the dr was not looking happy. Then after it was out he really started to get upset and told me I was starting to hemorage. From then on I was given all sorts of shots and pills to stop the bleeding. Eventually it stopped a bit, but I was not able to nurse the baby like planned. About 2 am. I asked if I could use the bathroom so two nurses helped me in to the bathroom and nothing happened so I called for my dh to come help me with the nurses and so he had me under one arm and the one nurse had me by the other and as we left the bathroom I said “ I am going to faint” and sure enough I woke up with an oxygen mask on me, 8 people around me all asking me the typical questions they ask to make sure you are ok, and I was being stuck in both arms with Iv’s and was listening to them talk about a possible bloods transfusion which thank god it never came too.My dh said it was very scary to watch especaillywhen they asked himt o leave the room.
I was then kept in my labor, delivery and recovery room til 9 am on Sunday. I had Iv’s in both arms a catheter (sp) put back in and blood taken frequently to have test run on me. Eventually I was moved to a regular room but still had all the ivs and catheter (sp) just in case I had another problems all the ivs were there and ready.
Allison was brought to me as soon as I got in my room and I did try to nurse but was having problems since she already had a few bottles. Then later I got a fever so I was giving her bottles anyway. I did nurse here and there but very little and not enough to satisfy her. The dr came in Monday morning and since all was a lot better I was able to go home.
We have been home since Monday afternoon at around. My DH is home with me all week. Things are going great. I was disappointed that she wouldn’t latch on so we gave her bottles because this monster of baby needs to eat. Started pumping yesterday and its getting better and better each time so now she is on breastfed bottle and one formula bottle at night.
Overall, I thought the whole birth went well, I even thought the epi gets a bad rap and it was nothing. Afterwards was bit scary but thankfully I am ok and I would do it all over to have this little girl in my life. All I can say is I am so glad if one of us had to be sick it was me and not the baby. I can’t imagine what some of you girls go through who deliver babies who have any problems.
So enough rambling from me here she is … Miss Allison Rose.

god bless you for pushing a 10 lb baby out my daughter was 9 13 and i thought that was big. they are easier to handle when they have a little more meat on them. best of luck to you she is beautiful.

Congratulations! She's beautiful. Glad you are doing better.
Allison reminds me of Nate when he was born. He was 10lb 3oz. Over a year later people are still shocked when I say it was a vaginal birth.

its funny i had asked on here last week how accurate growths sonos were and said how my drs dont liek doing them b/c they admit that most drs are off. So no they didnt tel lme anytign really exceopt at 32 weeks they gave me teh normal growth sono that i guess is needed and she was estimated to be 3.13 so 8 more weeks would have been around 8lbs or so... not TEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
