I have to go for blood work today at SIRM and I am nervous because they are going to take for about a zillion tests....
APA (antiphospholipid antibodies), ATA (antithyroid antibodies), NKa (Natural killer cell activation) and RIP (Reproductive immunophenotype), a serum Prolactin level and a TSH.
Anyway my veins are tiny, my blood comes out slowwwwwwwly and I think they need a million vials so I am just feeling nervous about this. Ah well....this too shall pass...

Sending you LOTS of good vibes that everything goes nice and smooth today (and quick!). I just hate needles and having my blood taken. Close your eyes, maybe bring a CD walkman to focus on something else.

Good luck. I know how you feel. I always have a problem with people finding my veins. It will be over before you know it. take care.

Aww Kara, it sounds more overwhelming than what it is. Don't count the vials lol. They are so friendly and talkative at SIRM, that I am sure you will be distracted. My blood moves slowly as well, but it was over fairly quickly.

Kara, I know how you feel I just had a FSH, Serum, Prolactin, Serum, TSH and a HCG, Serum and now tomorrow I have to go for another HCG Serum and then monday my HSG, 
and I will be thinking of you when I go too,

Thanks ladies --- Janice if it helps my HSG was not painful AT ALL.
And thanks Lisa, I will drink lots of water -- didn't think of that. DH recommended OJ...and red meat!!

Sorry I am only just seeing this now. I hope everything went smoothly. I never thought I'd get used to them taking blood from me but I'm about to enter month 7 and some days are better than others.
It may seem like an overwhelming amount of tests but just remember... the more tests the more likely they will find and answer/solution and you will be PG.

Thanks all -- the phlebotomist (sp?) did a great job - said it helped that I drank watar so thanks Lisa for that tidbit, no one ever told me that before.
They only took 4 vials, and 4 cheek swabs. Then I met with the Dr., for whom I had no questions - and he had nothing to tell me (except to LOSE WEIGHT)-- so it was kind of funny. Until they get the tests back there is nothing really to do.
Oh except he asked if DH has seen the urologist yet...um NO...DH called and "left a message" so he is WAITING for the Dr.'s office to call him back 
It has been 2 weeks now that I have been asking him NICELY to call the f_*ing Dr. and can he just DO IT??? I don't get it...now I am ****** at him all over again...

It took a while for my dh to go the urologist, i made the appt. for him, that is the only way it was done. they have no clue sometimes, we go through so many exams and that is all they have to do in most cases. Oh yea, and use the dixie cup now and then.

We wait for all the test results -- 10-12 days. I am already in for the May IVF cycle. I think I need to pay a $1,000 refundable deposit.
