Update Im home I'm having my HSG tomorrow...
I'm having my HSG tomorrow morning at 10:45am. I'm very unhappy about it. I just don't want to go through it and I'm scared.
If you've read my other posts you can see that I'm supposed to use an enema in the monring before the HSG.
Well, I went to CVS and stood there looking at the boxes of enemas on the shelvs for about 5 mins. before I could even pick one up. I was freaking out. Then I looked at the box and they have PICTURES showing what positions you should be in to use the enema. Then I read the directions.
NO WAY! NO WAY NOW WAY can I do this! I threw the box back on the shelf and left the store. I'm NOT USING AN ENEMA! I just can't. I can't do it.
NO ONE else I have talked to who has had to use one before their HSG so why do I?
I know I'm being a child but I CANNOT use that thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have NO IDEA why I would need an enema...I am NOT Ttaking it. I flat out refuse...I will not do it. I just can't!

Hey Kathy!
I just came on here and saw your post. I had just asked Pete about what elementary school was the house "zoned" for and it got me thinking about babies, so I came to TTC.
I just wanted to say that every year I have a colonoscopy (sorry of this is TMI). If you really do not want to do an enema (and really - who the heck does! It's gross!) you can drink a Fleet Phosphosoda. It should be in the same area as the enemas. It's completely, totally gross tasting stuff. I couldn't finish it. Be careful not to try to drink it all at once - I think you can drink it in thirds. And drink lots of water with it or you could get dehydrated. It's really gross but better than the alternative.

I dont blame you. Obviously its not going to kill you to not have an enima before your HSG..it does not even effect the results of your test.
Are you having this done at your dr's office by your ob/gyn? or is a radiologist doing it?

Gabrielle - What school is the house zoned in? I was wondering the same. Even though I grew up in the area I wasn't sure. Is it Dickenson Avenue? That is a very good school. My sister went there. Thank you also for the info on the other option re: enema.
Deb - I'm thinking the same thing. My dr. really doesnt think my tubes are blocked - I wish she wasnt senging me for this. I'm having the test done at another doctors office - my OBGYN isn't doing the test.

Your not being a child, you are just scared. It will be ok. I still dont understand why you need the enema too?

I can't even put eye drops in my eyes, I can't imagine that I would be able to do an enema either.

You do not need an enema.....I don't agree with any of the directions you received. Are you on antibiotics because I know I had to be. I also was advised to take advil, two hours before and one hour before. Your tubes are not blocked if you have been having chemicals...but the test reveals your uterus as well...so they could possibly see something there.

OH Lordy Kathy- Im so sorry your so stressed and worried.
Try to think it will be done quickly and at least you will have an answer.
I too do NOT think you have blocked tubes..maybe a progesterone issue? You are having a progesterone test this month too right?
Im actually surprised the Dr. ordered one so soon, before the labs came all back..BUT, I think it will ease your mind some when it shows nothing, which I think it will.
I hope it goes smoothly. Call me if you need anything ok?
p.s Screw the enema..thats dumb, it will not affect your test, and I never heard of it either...Tell them you tried...simple as that, if they even ask at all.

Kathy I just wantd to hop on here quick and wish you good luck tomorrow! I'm SURE its going to be fine and it truly does NOT sound like your tubes are blocked, so please hang in there - it'll be over before you know it
as all the other ladies have said, I would not even worry for 1 second about the enema (you are NOT being silly and I would ALSO NOT be able to do it  )
I"ll be thinking of you tomorrow , please let us know how it goes later on in the day

I can't see why you need an enema. If you absolutely need one you can take Fleet Phosphate Soda... they have lemon-lime flavored bottles.
My Dad had a stroke seven years ago and has to go for a colonoscopy every year as well. I give him the Fleet and if necessary my brother has had to give him his enema. That's the only area in life where my brother goes above and beyond.
I don't blame you one bit.

Thank you so much for you well wishes everyone! It's almost 10pm, I'm going to try to get to sleep early...
Have I mentioned how much I do NOT want to do this tomorrow?
Well, no enema for me, period. No way. So we'll see what happens. I am also planning on taking Advils before I go and bringing more with me.
I will give you all an update when I get home, hopefully I will be feeling OK

When I was supposed to schedule an HSG, the place I called, Dr. Sitron on Hempstead Tpk. Bethpage - told me I would have to take an enema. I called my GYN and she had never heard of this. Then I called Nassau Radiological Group in Garden City and they said no, no way did I need an enema.
So my dear...if I were you...I would try scheduling the HSG somewhere else. I know it is late for this advice but see if you can do this first thing in the a.m. I think you can get the HSG anywhere as long as you have the prescription from your GYN, so I would say, try Nassau Radiological (Lake Success, Garden City and Hempstead are some of their locations) or somewhere else. I would NOT take it where they tell you you must have an enema beforehand...
