cleaned! well, hired a cleaning service to do it
we are not changing the locks now b/c we have a painter and another worker in there now who has the keys. when they are done we will change locks.

ur prob right Diane....i think what kills me more is that I dont have how much i need to truly renovate it the way i want....at least not now i dont.

That is the one thing that is bothering me for some reason too.
My ILs are giving us a gorgeous cream colored leather sectional for free and I am saying to myself "Ummm I dont know if thats the theme I wanted for the house"
I must be insane too!

And there is fake brick in the master BD that I hate but I cant do anything about it for a long time.

The first thing we did was change the toilet seat covers...Then we changed the locks

Besides celebrating the first things we did were in this order:

1) Changed all locks
2) Installed Alarm system
3) Changed toilet seats
4) Painted

Then started major projects like the kitchen, and flooring in some rooms.

for my old condo, I did:

- Change locks
- Paint
- Replace carpets
- Clean place top to bottom

Cleaned the bathrooms and started to paint.

My mom and MIL cleaned the kitchen for us!!!!!! While we did other stuff

We did not change the locks until two or three months later!

We didnt change the locks for the first few mths either. We had our friends help us paint and they all had keys and the wood floor guy had a key to come and go.

We walked into the house and walked around for a few min taking it all in and realize that it was ours to do however we pleased.

Then we plugged in the tv and vcr and watched arthur murray dance lessons and learned to dance in our livingroom and dining room for our wedding. The neighbors must have thought we were nuts..

ETA: I lied the first thing we did was rip up the nasty stained rugs. Then went to dinner then plugged in the vcr... How quickly we forget the fun stuff...

First thing we did that night was tear down the wall paper in the dining room and some in the kitchen. The previous owners had wallpapered and bordered everything including the closets The next thing we did was change the toilet seats. Then we changed the locks. One lock was so old fashioned that we couldn't find a replacement for it, so we just added another lock to the door.

We changed the locks. Luckily we didn't have to do any major cleaning or renovations bc the house was a complete rehab. Everything was brand new.

I don't know, we are closing on Thursday and I haven't even thought about it.

Probably buy a bottle of champagne and get drunk!

Then change the toilet seats and paint, paint, paint.

BTW, I totally understand about renovations. We aren't going to have enough furniture and the kitchen really needs to be gutted and redone, but you know what, it's going to be ours and we have years to fix everything!
