What about something like these for centerpieces? either tulips or colorful gerber daises.
I just did centerpieces very similar to this (except I used roses) for my daughter's christening and they were so cheap and easy to make. We bought $3.00 vases at Michael's and bought roses at Costco ($14.99 for 24 roses). We put a dozen roses in each centerpiece. We did it the day before - they were gorgeous!
Not sure if you booked a restaurant, but I highly recommend La Villini in East Northport. Reasonably priced and EXCELLENT food. Nice size room.
I would also do the library. We did it for my SIL and I bought the bookshelf and told everyone to bring a book.
I also ordered her invitation from polkadotdesign.com They had a really cute invitation w/a modern day pregnant woman. Real cute.

the clothesline is such a wonderful idea I have seen it but wouldnt even know where to start to make it, if someone could FM the directions I would appreciate it. Also, the library do you put that on the invite or tell people when they call to RSVP? I love all these ideas!

I would add it to the invitation. Maybe call it a "Wishing Bookshelf"?
As for the clothesline, go get a clothesline & some clips (they have nice flourescent ones in places like Michael's). For cute onesie sayings, check on the Parenting Board. There was a thread about them with different sites. I just put all of the clothes my mother bought for my niece. It really just came out of laziness because there was no way I was going to help her wrap them & I thought it could double as a decoration.
also not sure where you had it planned but I love this place!
