Re: Catholic Posters - What are you giving up for Lent?

The trend for the past couple of years has been to not give something up, but rather do something good. This is what I have done the past 2 years and plan on doing this year - although not sure what that is yet.

Re: Catholic Posters - What are you giving up for Lent?

Though probably not the best answer, since it should be something more meaningful and purposeful...I am giving up sugared cereals (my favorite food)
I know it sounds like something silly-- but every morning I'll eat a bowl of Apple Jacks, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Cap'n Crunch... any bad for you kids cereal.
I need to be more healthy and give these up!!!

I'm going back and forth with this too...I'm thinking either sweets or red meat.

That's not silly, you're giving up something that you like.

Cakes, cookies and candy.

And I'm going to try to go to confession once and the stations of the cross on Good Friday, which will be harder than giving up something.

My fat stomach.

Rich better give up soda...I'm ready to kill him over it. He drinks at least a 2L bottle of regular pepsi everyday....and 2 cans of diet.

Re: Catholic Posters - What are you giving up for Lent?

Chocolate, cookies and soda - 3 things I shouldn't really be eating anyway.

I also try to do the good thing too and I was thinking this year of copying something a friend of mine does - she writes a letter or a note to someone she knows every day. Even if it is a short postcard. It's a nice way to let other people know you are thinking of them and a way for me to make time in my day for other people.
