For Christmas, DH's family stays up late on Christmas Eve and they open their presents at 12 AM on Christmas day.

We do this too, DH thought it was nuts when he spent his first Christmas with us. Though we will wait until Christmas morning to have our son open his gifts Chat Icon

At Christmas we play Grandma Got Ran Over By a Reindeer - and we sing it to my grandmother and she sits there with drink it hand smiling, laughing and attempting to sing it. It's actually quite fun - definitely a tradition I will miss when she's gone! Chat Icon

Ahhhhhhhhh I love tradition!

May sound corny, but every year I write a prayer for thanksgiving dinner and we all have to say what we are thankful for.

Tradition for the day after...we wake up and eat dessert from the night before for breakfast!

Christmas....we STILL put cookies out for santa (we are ALL grown..no kids in the family yet lol)...read twas the night before christmas...my sister and I save all of our wrapping for christmas eve night while listening to z100's christmas carols...christmas morning..we wont go into the living room until our mom is awake....we never make christmas dinner.we order from the diner since its all about opening gifts that day.

On birthdays...our mom always calls us at the exact time we are born to wish us a happy birthday.

On our anniversary...we always dance in our kitchen to our wedding song as it plays through the computer....weird I know! LOL

After Christmas Dinner, my step-father makes anyone who is around sit and watch Christmas Vacation.

So sentimental Chat Icon

I guess our weird tradition is that grandma fries assorted vegetables, because "that's how they always did it." It doesn't matter that no one eats them....she MUST fry them. C'mon...fried broccoli, cauliflower...brussel sprouts?!? ew!

Fried cauliflower is one of my FAVORITE things to eat, but sadly, I don't know anyone who makes it Chat Icon

Growing up, it was always a tradition to have hamburgers for dinner on Christmas Eve. We would all go to church and my Dad would stay home and make dinner. (That's supposedly why he couldn't go to Mass with us Chat Icon ). Then we'd all decorate the tree.

Chicken Tonight in Lindenhurst, on Sunrise Hwy has all of the fried veggies. Califower, broccoli, etc. They also have these fried pizza rolls that remind me of these things they used to give us in elementary school.

My mom does the same thing. Also, we have pasta after antipasto for Thanksgiving and then we have the turkey and all the trimmings.

Growing up, when we spent Christmas Day at my aunt's, she would give us all party hats and we would all sing happy birthday to Jesus.Chat Icon

Thanksgiving was Grace and we would all hold hands around the table (when we went to extended family).
