Well lets see. They installed a bay window for my house. The installer was a total a$$hole. He did a crap job on the molding inside the window. He finished the outside job... but he needed to come back the next day to install additional vinyl siding (i had holes on the side of my house).
He never showed. We called repeatedly. He said he would show two other times. Never showed. We spoke to the owner... he finally sent someone out on Monday to correct everything.
After all of this... I am not even entirely happy with the window. The salesman told me the window would be an inch wider than it was. I am VERY GLAD i trusted my instinct and DIDN'T order my cabinets to the window salesman's recommendation because I would have been screwed.
They are getting a negative on the BBB because of this. They suk. Never again.

I really should have investigated these window companies further.
But this company actually came recommended... and my wife was breaking by balls to get a window ordered ASAP. She didn't want to wait because this was holding up all our other projects (like the kitchen cabinets).
I gave in and went with Unified. I should have waited and investigated this further.

We found that to be the biggest problem with our renovation!! SOOOOO FRUSTRATING!! It was a miracle that my DH and I made it through the stress without a divorce

but what happened with Slomins???
My salesman is an *****' idiot. He told me my security system would take a day to install and it would be wireless. The tech shows up... with the work order all screwed up (from the salesman). Then the tech says... oh it will take a least a day so install the security system. Well my wife is normally off Mondays... but can't take two consecutive days off from work during the week.
Plus... I had to wait over a MONTH to get this appointment. Now when they rescheduled me... i am waiting another month. My salesman was supposed to get this rectified... but I still don't have a system installed yet.
I am seriously considering a different company now.

wow! sorry to hear that. we had the completely opposite experience with them. our system was installed w/in a week of calling them, and it was done in one day. they even threw in some extra motion detectors.
just be adamant about getting a nice discount (if you do decide to stay with them)
Ok... i will keep this in mind when this idiot calls me back (if he calls me back).
My house is not big enough to warrant additional motion detectors. But maybe i can get another smoke detector for the upstairs.
Every time i scheduled an appointment... i had to wait at least a month. They have a huge backlog in Nassau county supposedly (from all the breakins).

We had problems with Slomins installing our system too. Eventually it worked out.

Well the banks are really screwing up bigtime. Check out this story.
I got an envelope in the mail from Chase Mortgage. It was addressed to my old co-op address (I had my co-op loan with them)... and it got USPS forwarded to my house.
I figured there was some closing documents in there from my co-op sale.
Do you know what was in there? Some multi-page letter ADDRESSED TO SOME GUY IN THE BRONX. Apparently some guy in the bronx (I have his name on the letter)... applied for a loan and this letter was his "denial letter" saying he wasn't approved for the mortgage.
Well guess what else was on the letter. His address and his SSN! Can you say identity thieft?
I can't believe this. What I want to know is.... what was Chase supposed to SEND ME? They obviously printed an envelope with my name. Someone else out there may have the letter with MY personal information on it.
I think I will be calling Chase today and they better give me a damm good explaination of this... or I will be threatening a lawsuit.
Maybe I will contact this guy in the Bronx. He will be ****** he got denied for a mortgage. I'll talk him into opening a lawsuit against Chase and i'll testify. There has to be some federal law that they broke.

I hear you. I am very close to cancelling. The sales manager is supposed to call me today.
If/When he does... I will be demanding some freebies. If I don't get them... I am going to go with somebody else.
There is no way I am signing a 5 year contract with a company thats pulling this BS.

The letter said they denied him because he didn't complete the credit application properly.
Somebody suggested a great idea... bring this story to the news.
I am going to email CBS2 "Shame on You" with my story. Maybe they will bite and I will get on TV. 
Talk about bad PR.

Unified is HORRIBLE!!! They installed a new front door at my old house. We never use the top deadbolt while we are out unless we went away. So we leave for the honeymoon and IL's come over to feed the cat and they can't get into the house. FIL had to call a locksmith... $150. Turns out the deadbolt was installed wrong and it could be locked and unlocked from the inside but not with the key from the outside
So DH went there when we returned from the honeymoon with receipt in hand and they wouldn't pay for their own NEGLIGENCE!!!

#1. Because the envelope was still addressed to ME... so you won't know if there may be SOMETHING in there for me unless I go through every page
