Bath Fitter Question
Has anyone used Bath fitter in their Bathrooms? Can you tell me your experience with them? Would you recommend them?

I can't speak to the company itself, because we didn't end up having it installed, but I was shocked at how much it was. It was around $4k. We ended up retiling, because we liked that better and it was less expensive. I though Bath Fitter's was going to be less expensive then retiling, but it wasn't.

i got that quote too. WHen we were looking to re-do our bath i checked them out and got that price. I felt that was way to high and decided to do the bath ourselves.
My aunt had it done and didn't like it at all.

Yes - but what did you want from them that was $4000? Was this just for the tub or shower or was this for the complete Bathroom?

The previous owners of our new home used bathfitter in the main bath & I have to say that I hate it. It is hard to keep clean & you can see where it is flexing over the old tile. It looks pretty awful & we will be re-doing our bathroom to get rid of it.
The HD bathroom comes to $1250 (that's with a small jet tub, tile & new hardware), but Bathfitters quoted us more than 3 times that, and that was without the new hardware.

Yes all fixtures, tile, supplies & tub from Home Depot. I do not rememebr who the specific manufacturers are though

My parents used Alure home improvment for the bathroom Everything they got was top of the line and they got everything new with ceramic tiles in the tub and on the floor. It cost about 10,000

depends on where you get it....prices range varies quite a lot on what kind of vanity and cabinet you pick.
there are decent ones at Home Depot that are pretty good in price!
Toliets aren't that expensive at all

My mom had Bathfitter redo her bathroom a while ago. I was in college, and I've been out for 8 years now, so it's got to be at least 10 years. She likes it. It was quick and easy, and it was a few thousand less than getting the whole bathroom redone. She's had no problems with it at all.
I'm going to look into is this company Oz General Contracting . They had an ad on the back of Clipper Magazine a few weeks ago that has 2 different bathroom packages, one is $6.5K and the other is $8.5K, and you get $500 off if they can't get it done in a week. I haven't called them for an estimate yet.

We looked into Bath Fitters but the people I know who used them were not really very happy with the end result, particularly with the price they paid.
I am currently looking into re-glazing as an option since I HATE the Pepto Bismol color of my bathroom.

Here's my question/problem with Bath Fitters...what if something goes wrong with the plumbing? How do you get behind the wall? I am assuming you would have to cut out a portion of the wall, and that must be fun to replace.
IMO, I would tile the bathroom and buy extras "just in case"...besides, it's definitely cheaper to tile, 4K is crazy!!!!

I used a different company that does a similar thing as Bath Fitter. I have mixed feelings about it. The end result came out great, and it was finished in two days. Having only one bathroom in my apartment, we couldn't be without one for much longer than that.
Its actually very easy to clean, and it looks so much better than what we had before. We had the entire bathroom done, the walls, and the shower/bath, and it does look nice. I notice little flaws, that other people don't so I suppose its not so bad.

we had it in my old apt because there was a leak somewhere and our bathroom leaked into our landlord's ceiling so they bath fitted (is that a word??) it....it never fit perfect and it cold have just been my experience but after a few weeks you could feel a squishy-ness when you stepped in the shower, becuase it didn't match the tub perfectly. i am a clean freak so i always wondered about whether or not stuff could grow in that space.....it looked nice but the fit concerned me....we moved about two months later so i don't really know long term how it worked out.....

We just redid the bathroom and we got everything we wanted and the price wasn't that bad.
We have a friend doing it so the labor is a good deal. We closed up the window in the shower and made cathedral ceilings w/ a skylight.
Our vanity (48 inches) in wood was $399 from Lowes
Countertop for vanity with sink $200
Mirrored medicine cabinet (48 inches) was about $130
Lighting: about $200
Tub with jets $400
Toilet bowl $200
Skylight: $300 - labor $500
All the tiles (floor, wall up to ceiling, chair rail, decorative pieces) less than $2K - we know the tile store owner but even so you can get cheaper tile.
There is some more stuff like the shower doors and accessories but we didn't spend over $6K.. and that is without holding back on anything. We could have done it cheaper but I got everything I wanted
ETA: if you only tile in the shower and paint the walls outside of the shower it will be alot cheaper than tiling everything.. but we tiled everything up to the cathedral ceiling.
